THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo

And the proof is?

The links to the various newspaper articles in the thread as well as the none-too-subtle inferences made by some posters.

And Caro left a game between 17 and 18th on the ladder? So what. She does not do match write ups and probably attend the pre match. She did pay tribute on Footy Classified twice on the turnout of MFC supporters to such a game given everything the club has been through.

Others have said they have seen her leaving prior to matches as well - you would think if she actually enjoyed football she would stick around and watch the matches, not just turn up to do her pre-game muckraking and [censored]-stirring and then run off before the matches even start. Whether she praised the supporters for turning up or not is irrelevant (one thing I will say though is that at least she stood up for the club when that moron Tony Shaw was saying we should be playing our home games at Punt Road).

I wouldn't put too much store in the fact that she (sometimes) leaves games after finishing her radio commitments. The 24/7 nature of media, and of footy, may well mean that when she leaves the 'G she goes to the offices of the Age to write for the next day's paper. If you're not writing match reports, but have to spend half the day on the phone (whether it be muck-raking or finding legitimate stories), you'd probably be more inclined to do so away from a roomful of your competitors in the MCG press box.

You've named an individual without firm evidence and the inferences of faceless men hiding behind internet covers. Bravo to you.

She probably attended the pre matches and was possibly heading to the Brisbane game at Etihad later that day. Its not her job to do match reports. And in their industry they probably have Foxtel and they tape the game for all its excitement.

Too true and too brave for saying it.

Rhino, do you have a connection or know Caroline Wilson in any way?

You seem to always defend her, gave me a warning a long me ago for calling her a few things.

I've wondered ever since.

He defends her because the rest dont, he rolls that way, Rhinos here for an argument, the best thing about it now is he cant delete your posts or ban you for things he dont agree with, the best thing to do is not respond to his posts, hes simply not worth the time of day.

If anyone's interested in the Mifsud/Neeld controversy there was an interesting discussion on it in one of the tanking threads around mid January which contains some interesting links both by and about Caroline Wilson. Fascinating to read and even more fascinating to think that Caro had the whole story well before Grant Thomas wrote about it in his blog. The reason given as to why she didn't publish was because she didn't have sufficient corroboration. She later backed Mifsud to the hilt even after he offered his apology to Davey. The fact that the parties reached a mediated agreement put an end to any detailed investigation as to the source of the story but there are some clues in the articles written about the affair.

Very interesting stuff and a pointer to how informants can sometimes damage reputations in a very devious manner. Certainly, neither Melbourne nor Mark Neeld deserved that treatment.

No. But I find it amusing that posters want to rubbish her on the "facts" when these posters have precious little to go on.

In truth I have not participated in the village lynchmob antics that have been fostered here.

And some of the sexist attacks on this site on Wilson whether you agree with her or not have been disgraceful.

Not even the many clear errors and omissions of fact that seem to have tainted her work of late and have been demonstrated in this thread?

Do yourself a favour and don't watch Footy Classified tomorrow night. It should be a humbling experience for muckrakers and their apologists.

You're kidding yourself if you reckon Caro will dine out on humble pie tomorrow night. She will maintain there is still an investigation at Melbourne; that questions still to be asked & answered since she as shirty the Demons refused to answer questions last week; and keep slamming Melbourne for being badly run. And since Garry is hopeless at prosecuting an argument without getting emotional and/or sidetracked, he will fail to nail any Caro inconsistencies. Hutchy may pipe in with some smart-alec snipes. Lloydy will, well, try to look insightful.

So if there are a number of people that arrive at the same conclusion, albeit independently, and don't like the way she attacks our club, it's really a lynch mob?

She has already apologised

and she will again tomorrow - or probably just refer to this apology

Whatever ... it should make riveting television for the minions and will no doubt be like 95% of what we see on that programme - contrived.

Q & A and Lateline for me.

Nobody likes the way she attacks the club (but we are not alone as some would think) but I have already addressed the absurdity of some of the attacks..

Could there be more toothless show that Footy Classified?

A bit like SEN radio on TV. Full of headlines but embarrassingly light on the fizz.

I'll tape it this week and fast forward to the ads, There will be more information in them.

Gary Lyon is so hopelessly compromised over his involvement at the Club from the backroom to the rancid coaching appointment process. His performances have been really limp and his descent into emotive cheap shot rather intelligent discussion is a real let down. His flaky explanation of the coaching appointment was full of holes and they did not touch him.

Lloyd is also terribly and horribly compromised over Essendon and wears his colours on his sleeve. He is unable to contribute anything meaningful.

And Hutchy.....FMD is just hopeless. Unable to listen and think without jumbling more than 4 words in his head. Lightweight.

Firstly, those 'rubbish facts' are a two-way street are they not? I can tell you there was no code named meeting to discuss tanking - even though she wrote that 'fact.' Threats and 'ashen faced Schwab' were thrown out into the ether by this woman and we ask for more from journalists who hold so much sway?

If you stopped for a moment and not try to just explain away criticisms as 'mob mentality' and 'group think' you would come to the same conclusions as most of us.

She had a terrible 2012 that affected your club in an extremely negative fashion - she didn't get stories correct and she never corrected herself.

Certainly wasn't a lynch mob...

PS. F___ing Lynch Mob? This is the kind of reference you would arc up about from any poor d!ck that mentioned it. No-one is dragging her over to a tree and stringing her up and hanging her for the colour of her skin, RR.

Your emotive chest beating only serves to prove my point further. You certainly dont have any access to the sources of her information. you seek to deride. As for Schwab he oversaw and was responsible for Club activities that lead to the Board accepting the 3rd largest fine in AFL history and suspension of two men under his control. He is responsible for his own downfall. he would have realised that when the AFL released its report to the club on tanking. Elements at the AFL and the MFC leaked extensively during the investigation and Wilson and other journalists reported those leaks.

You dont like what she writes then bully. Go wave your torch elsewhere.

If I had the link (or the time to look it up myself) I would have given it but if you're interested and have more time than I do, all you need is to search whatever tanking thread we had going at the time and you should find it. IIRC the discussion on the MIfsud story ends in a very telling way.

No I don't have time, my request was a vain hope for substance in place of more mystifying innuendo.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
