Round 1 this year I made an attempt to buy three junior memberships, for my kids.... I had already got mine renewed on line.... I just wanted to get the kids started.....

I got to the game late and the members tent was full..... So I thought I'd wait til half time.....

At half time there was nobody at the members tent, that I could buy them from.... So I went down to the demon shop.... They said "go to the members tent" I told them that there was nobody there.... He said "you can't buy them here"?? I've brought them there before? I found them very unhelpful and a little rude......

After this our team got flogged and I didn't stay.....

I normally buy my membership online.... But this time I'm going to wait til round 1..... If I can't get my membership renewed that day..... I don't want one....

If I'm helped.... And feel pleased that they actually care.... Then I will buy all four.....

DId you let the club know about your bad experience? I'm sure they'd like to hear about it so they can ensure it doesn't happen in the future.

i had every intention of doing that, but just got to busy..... If it happens again next year..... I'll let them know.... I was very disappointed.....

Just buy online, or better still ring the membership line and get it done. Much easier than lining up Round One at a tent when it's always busy.

You get to Round One and straight in that way, no queues, no frustration of waiting. More pleasant that way.

Buy them at Casey when we play the Saints next year, we need a big turnout for this game, its important for the club to show the AFL that Casey belongs to the Demons.

I hope we hit a record high with members next season but I agree that it will depend on how we start the season.

I am joined up and so is the old pooch. I have a new four legged friend due to join our family in a couple of weeks and he will be a Dees supporter too.

Heard "Eddie" sprouting that they were hoping to have 50,000 members by the end of the year and that they were 7000 ahead of the total same time last year. He also made mention of the Club trying to cater for those people who did not go to games - apart from the three game membership does anyone know what type of memberships they are offering to those people who do not go to games(not interstate of country memberships). He also said that he had emailed Caro and congratulated her a couple of weeks ago about the quality of her journalism - yeah but he forgot to ring her when she mentioned Swans name in the same sentence as drugs.

Agree with that, but I was initially referring to reaching the "pointy end" of the NAB Cup and the benefits that come with it, meaning something - not "nothing".

Winning in the NAB cup may not have any significant effect, but if we get beat and beat easily in most of our matches, it certainly will.

I'd like 40k+ members.

But I think the final numbers will depend on how sweet we come out smelling after the

AFL investigation into the shite that one CW has stirred up.

I honestly believe the the fence sitters will do just that until a decision is made.

You do realise that those members tend are often staffed by volunteers, and that it is a big cost and effort for the club to do these things. On line membership costs the club nothing on staff costs and is available all the time, no lines, and the couple of staff we do have are fantastic if you call them up.

Your attitude is appalling and selfish. If you are truly a club supporter, support them, and realise that you are one of 35 thousand people whose details and money they need to collect in the space of a few months and that there is probably only 10 hours of membership tent time per year.

The membership number is often a delayed indication of how we went in a previous season, with the exception of some big name recruits (ie Cousins, Judd etc) switching clubs.

I'd reckon we'd stay around 35K- 37K mark.

If we go well next year, I'd expect to see us creep over 40K the year after (2014).

Yeah I have to agree. I rang the membership line up on Monday last week to update some of my details, and also to donate $100 dollars to player development and recruiting (wasn't sure if this could be done online). The guy I spoke to was terrific, and very helpful. I certainly think that the quality of our membership service has improved over the past few years.

lol.... My attitude is what? How? Who was complaining about the staff at the members tent? I went down to the demon shop, where I have brought my membership from before and was told that had to go to the members tent, that had no body there.... When I told them no body was there, they told me I couldn't buy memberships from them... How is that appalling or selfish? I had already renewed my own membership..... And decided a couple of days before that I'd buy my kids one each(in memory of Stynes).... Surely we should be able to buy memberships, on match day......from the tent or at the demon shop...... The staff at the demon shop, couldn't careless wether I got a membership.....

Very much so....but,

The but is: if the team gets off to a decent enough start there are thousands who sit on fences., thousands who need that nudge, a security in knowing they might be on to something. yes ,they arent like us, but they are they and thats fair enough. if you want to win these over then you need to win.

I think 40k is entirely possible on the caveat we show something early.

Did you ever think that maybe the people at the Demon Shop were telling you the truth? That they couldn't sell you a membership there this year even though it may have been different in the past? What do you want them to do if that's the case, you can't draw blood from a stone. This is what's wrong with the club instead of unity within there's always this selfish crap about "what's in it for me" and "how do I benefit". Really it's not that big a deal you can always go online to buy them, ring up 1300 DEMONS, or just go to the members tent at the next game. Pretty petulant attitude to have to say that if you can't get them at the tent round 1 you won't bother joining at all. The other option is of course to turn up earlier and, if there is a queue, to queue up and wait your turn.

It does seem strange to me that you cannot purchase an MFC Membership at THE DEMON SHOP situated under the MCG...why is that?

I don't want to see any potential member turned away. We need them all.

Even if it is signing people up via the online site whilst in the shop.

5 minutes work. A family can be signed.

lol.... I can't see why they wouldn't be able to sell me memberships at the shop, when I've purchased them there before? Why would a business close down a purchase option? Had the service attendant been a little nicer, this wouldn't be an issue for me..... I've never asked what's in it for me, when purchasing my membership or how it benefits me? I can't see how it's selfish to ask to buy a membership? This incident maybe a one of..... But what if it isn't? How many members have been turned away? I know of three that have..... How many others.... Edited by tatu

Had the service attendant been a little nicer, this wouldn't be an issue for me.....What do people do if they don't have access to the web or a credit card? To bad hay..... I can't see how I'm being selfish by wanting to buy a membership on the day of round 1..... You can bash/attack my comments if you like and live in a dream, where everything is perfect about the club.... Hopefully I'm a minority and this hasn't happened before.......lol..... Would be a shame if it had...... Lets not try to fix any problem members might be having and just sweep it away.... If the service at a restaurant was really bad, would you go back?

exactly.

Fix the problem and fast.

The Filth expect to have 50,000 members by christmas. We should aim that high in the next few years also...

I agree that people should have the option of paying in cash /eftpos as not everyone wants a credit card.

We need a bar/club area that is open and staffed at all times .

I dont see this comment as a knock on the club-its just positive feedback really .

A bit of help required from any other member who gets membership renewed automatically...........I saw the heartbeat mag arrive during the week and when I went looking for it today asked the wife where it was.

In the recycling bin was her reply!

Anyway, after a strenuous search in the putrid bin it has been retrieved.....my question is, did the membership cards, stickers etc come with the mag, cos I cant find them...I`m guessing (hoping) they come later.

Thanks guys

Worse Bub....she`s a pom and into union, but she is now a big fan of the Dees and allowed me to call our 1st baby Jack! I guess she still hasnt figured out that the only enjoyment us Demon fans have is the pre-season and any reading material that is actually positive and interesting to read.

Thanks for the marital advice too WYL, taken onboard lol
