What if...?

dogs have cats and lions, both away games

if they were to lose both and us win one what effect will this have on the Viney situation?

if by some miracle we are leading at 3qt this weekend expect Sam Blease to go to the ruck ;)

It will effectively end any hope of having two picks in the top 5 obviously. And I believe the WB will try to spend 3 on Viney.

And we will match with 5.

Or will we? Billy?

Look into my eyes...

"There is no tanking in the AFL."

We are zero chance to win the next 2 games. Not just because it would not be beneficial for us in the long term, but also because we suck.

These words say it all so i wouldn't worry about a thing.

only need to win 1

it would be such an 'us' thing to do though, play like shizen for 19 out of 20 games and then rip out some surprise form right at the death, in order to screw ourselves over

only need to win 1

So which 1 will we win?

Against a top 2 team, who need to win to secure a home final?

Or against a team who needs to win to make finals, at their home ground, where we haven't won in years?

Good luck with that!

What's your problem RP?

Of course adding more parties in to the equation RP, would mean we have to reassess, and yes, that could mean adding just one more.

But, in reality, there will only be 2 in the race, and I still feel confident that neither will bid.

Really C&B? I mean, REALLY?

Wow dude, if you're trying to show we have some chance because we smashed the Crows last year, you really are clutching at straws.

Just curious - have you had a look at the ladder recently?

well excuse me for thinking that when you have essentially the same 22 vs 22 at the same ground, 36 games of football later, and we won by 96 on that day, that it is a possibility

Short memories? That was a freakin' lifetime ago.

Agree Nasher

there is as much chance of us beating Adelaide as there is of me flying

I cannot find one feather with only 5 days to go.

if by some miracle we are leading at 3qt this weekend expect Sam Blease to go to the ruck

It would be a very Melbourne thing to pull a surprise win when needed least, but then have a look at our game last week and another at our injury list and you'll relax.

Although I would like to see Blease at the centre bounce, Magner in the goal square and Spencer on the wing

Adelaide will trounce us this week (Sanderson will light a fire up their ass after the Brisbane game), and i would not at all be surprised to see guys like Evans, Gysberts, even Sheahan/Cook/Davis given a call up for Freo to give them a taste of AFL footy (like Fitzpatrick last year).

Don't stress too much fellas,

Even if by some miracle we end up winning one of the last games (not that i don't think we are a sneaky chance against the Crows) but lets be serious we are playing 2 potential finals bound teams who won't want to lose to us

GC are interested in Viney - he is highly rated. I have heard GC will nominate Viney and would be happy to pick him up at 2.... MFC are playing hardball but they won't let him walk to GC...

I am more then happy to be proven wrong though!!! would love 3 cracks at the pool in our first round

Bwahaha to tank you have to have a chance at winning yeah?

Got to love the optimisum though..... we did smash the crows last time out....... anything is possible haha

Hey C&B move on over to the Optimists Only thread. Don't waste your energy on these pessimists.

The problem my friend is that Neeld has destroyed the confidence and natural offensive flare of our group. We are a shaddow of the side we were last year. Never have I seen so many talanted young players playing as a shaddow of themselves. We have not recruited badly, most of of list were recruited with a pick that matched the concensus of all recruiters at all clubs. The problem is our coach, I hope that if there is not a massive improvement in the first half of 2013 that he is sacked. Simply a coaches main role is to get the most out of his players, Neeld has one way of another destroyed the confidence and thus ability of at least half the list. Neeld is a massive mistake...... perhaps the biggest since sacking Norm Smith.

Sounds like someone forgot their medicine................. or needs to go see someone

I like how your argument is that we need to fail to succeed - I think you shoul consider supporting Freo or the Dogs or maybe even the Saints - they love failure

PS - i am glad we are a shadow of the side we we;re last year - winning easy games is great, winning flags is what we should be about - Unfortunetly people like you can't see that the club has to take a step backwards to build something special....

Agian if you don't like it go support the Dogs, Saints or Failo

+1

sad but true

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
