I would be more interested in Quinton Lynch than Travis cloke personally, Cloke is a great contested mark granted, but he wants far more than he is worth unless he is in top form for 5 years straight, Lynch would cost far less, and fill the second tall role then we have more money to spend on getting our midfield up to scratch, i'd be tempted to mix up howe's time forward abit, he is too good a mark not to have in a dangerous position more of the time, then throw strong offers to Clint Young and Shannon Byrnes to get abit of experience, quality disposal and hard bodies into the mix and throw the kitchen sink at goddard, he may be gone but if there is any chance he would be well worth it, his on and off the field contribution would be huge for the young players and fans, if we get all of that, we would be a much different side next year, Boak would be an ideal addition to our midfield, not sure how realistic getting him is but we have the picks and we have the money so i suppose there has to be some chance there

That's disappointing. Although he is 30 I really rate him and it wouldn't have been ridiculous for us to offer him 2 years, especially not having played a heap of footy earlier in his career. His body seems to hold up fine at the moment.

Might be cut n paste article, but very usefule to clarify FA rules. I wasn't aware that RFAs could be traded if their original club matches the offer.

What would happen is Player A agrees to go to Carlton.

Player A's Club says we will match that and then the player either says fine I will stay or reject it and 'elect' or 'threaten' to go into the draft.

Carlton can then negotiate with Player A's club for a trade, should a trade not substantiate - that player can go into the draft.

So it is still a complicated mess and the RFA still has the right to go into the draft should they not want to re-sign with their club.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
