At the risk of been attacked by the thread police, I want to highlight this issue again.

All clubs have their fair share of injuries but our beloved mob do it better and more consistently than most. We have heaped dollars on the Misson experiment and lets hope that will reap benefits. But truly it is getting tiring every year.

Interesting watching the Charlie Walsh interview he was talking about using the bike as a low impact training tool for Melbourne players.

Of the Injuries there are -

3 x knee injuries

3 x foot injuries

1 x calf

1 x achillies

1 x ankle

1 x back

1 x shoulder

I actually think we have done OK this year in the sense that the main injuries were impact rather than fitness strains..

Have you ever been really tired and twisted an ankle walking up a step or something? Getting fitter will reduce our incidence of injuries of every kind. Even impact injuries. Look at Nathan Jones; excepting the fortuitously-placed broken back at the end of one season, he's had narry a scratch, twinge or snap since his debut. It's no coincidence that he's our fittest player.

The Misson experiment as you call it is very new and fitness to an elite level takes a long time 2-3 years for some and longer for others.

As you push your body to the extreme you are going to get hurt along the way.

With injuries, its not as simple as "fitness". Genetics, body shape/type plays a massive role. Not to mention type of football player they are. Some players based on a combination of those will simply always find a way to get injured.

Jones, however is built. His frame and I'll assume his genetic make up is just great for AFL football. Don't get me wrong, his fitness level and preparation will be first class too which definitely helps. But I struggle to believe that Jack Grimes doesn't prepare well or get his fitness levels to where they need to be.
