12. Cook - Ripper kid. Very polite and well spoken. Has a nice country feel to his manner. He has suffered from some migraines this year and it is thought that is because he gets very nervous before a game. The longer the season went the more I tended to drop off him simply because he wasn't having any impact on games. I thought he should have been dominating. He's not overly intense and not overly aggressive. I have a few question marks on his mental toughness.

Besides Miller that reads a pretty depressing list as a Melbourne supporter. I always had high hopes Armstrong, mainly because of the jumper number he wore and the blonde locks similar to a past player that donned the guernsey before him. He wasn't a quarter of the player that bloke was, played in a premiership though...lucky for him.

But two years on the concerns we've had about intensity, aggression, pace and lack of involvement have never been more vivid. Big key forwards need mongrel and an appetite for the contest and it's very hard to instill that in a player that doesn't naturally have it.

He and Watts would spend an hour trying to get out of a lift ... you, no you, ...

This is my problem with Cook - you can afford to have one of he or Watts on the list but not both. Watts is clearly the better player so I genuinely think we should see if we can get a late first round draft pick back for Cook and cut our losses (though even that may be asking too much).

I don't know about that - he is after still a highly rated junior who is a tall KPF who take time to come on - the problem is we can't afford to have him on our list. He doesn't suit us but he could fit in nicely somewhere else.

It's the attitude thing with Cook that bothers me and it's one of the big issues holding him back. In an early interview when he first arrived at the club he was saying how he wanted to first establish himself at Casey and learn the game.

I don't think Jack Viney will be saying that next year, any player must push for senior selection the minute they walk into the club, I mean look at young Tynan. Seeing him at his first training session I thought he was a few years off, skinny underdeveloped kid, but he just kept on pushing himself up by working his a... off, even strengthened up a bit in the short time he has been with us. He played first game and it's only injury that's kept him from another shot at it.

Fitzpatrick???????? Not a fan. He has very good speed and agility for his size but his foot skills are shocking and he is lazy. His marking is hit and miss.

He is getting over Chronic Fatigue as a 15yr old but he has been playing on that for the past 3 years. I haven't spoke to him but my bosses went to Sth Africa with him as part of the AIS U18 tour a few years back and they said he was the biggest whinger and complainer they had every heard. They also said he is one of the most arrogant kids they have ever met. They wouldn't have drafted him with 100 picks.

I think at pick #50 James Craig from SA or Josh Donaldson from WA would have been a better option

Again for me it comes back to the culture of the place.

If we want to eradicate this Soft approach to club & recruits, we may need to continue to look outside of our own clubs former players to acquire the hardened edge.

Just as we did with Checker Hughes.

As we did with Slug, & wasn't he terribly disliked by the MCC members.

As we've done with Neeld & co...

But we have to start recruiting strong headed kids with some aggro to match their skills.

I really hope this Taylor bloke has some cohonas & I'd love to have Matty Rendell with us.
