Assuming that we were perceived as tanking in 2009 (and I still feel that it will be quite hard to unequivocally demonstrate this to be the case given that we were in front at the final siren) does anyone else wonder whether losing Scully (or Scully being accessable as a potential pouching target for GWS) was an unofficial sanction from the AFL for making it too obvious??

Sounds crazy at first but think about it. No one in their wildest dreams thought that a number 1 draft pick would be available for pouching and that the AFL didnt veto the possibility some how.

We got two compo picks, the same as Geelong got for Ablett and more then the Dogs got for Ward. I'd say we're ahead.

Hard to say but i doubt it.

I was told after DB's final presser the AFL did not go in to deep into the allegations because of Jimma's health, so this is why i am concerned this time. I don't think the AFL ever want to hear the tanking word ever again.

All i was told is that most of the other club presidents were not happy because we made it so public what the position was, but they all loved and respected Jimma...so whether it will be dealt with hard now is the unknown.

Geez IRW get your hand off it. The worst that will happen is the AFL will alter the draft rules not because there was any tanking (in their opinion) but just to remove any false perceptions.

The only thing that could bring us unstuck is if the AFL make an immunity deal with DB (and I wouldn't put it past them). They could tell him his job is safe, on the provision that he names names. But then, as the optimists (who probably call themselves realists) will tell us, unless there is written evidence, it's just a case of "he said/she said".

We SHOULD be ok, but I'll be a lot happier(?) when the issue has been dismissed and no further action to be taken. Oh, and when Paul Gardner has taken our advice and f**ked off.
