Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Flack for what? Getting us two compo picks for Scully and bringing in a hardarse coach? They deserve pats on the back and a pay rise.

Unfortuntely if mud is going to be thrown it's going to splat all over the wonderful legacy of a universally loved, Melbourne champion who succumbed valiantly to cancer.

So Deano Bailey ... over to you mate.

Not entirely true RR, we can thank GWS for paying overs which in the AFL rules put Scully in the elite category with Ablett. A joke I know but that is what the compo was based on.

Don't bring Jimmy into this RR...those left behind will take the flack, and it is only a few, not all.

Make no mistake, Schwab's willingness to 'play the AFL's game' throughout 2011 and not kick up a fuss was skilfully handled and helped net us the two picks.

I'm just postulating what might happen if Dean Bailey chooses to bring Jimmy into it, WYL. That's all.

It would be a shocking allegation for Dean to make without proof and without the man even being here to defend himself.

Horrendous really. No?

Are you serious?

You are happy that the AFL are investigating OUR CLUB so it may uncover what you believe is incompetence at the highest level in the Administration?

Do you really understand what the ramifications of this will be, if they find a top official has instructed the coach to tank?

Good luck finding a new team to support.

If a top official at the MFC has instructed the coach to tank, we deserve whatever we get as a club and that official should be taken to court.

We can't run & hide. The world knows what 2008-09 were about.

No arguement there. But it is well known what we did. It is now time for those responsible to fess up so the club can move forward...

There probably won't be a club but you don't seem to have the (insert whatever) to understand that.

No, I've said before that I think you are right with this, it certainly didn't hurt us. But...I think the negatives far outweigh the positives where he is concerned.

...and before you raise the money issue I think it was Jimmy who was the catalyst for erasing the debt at the club, without him it would not have happened, the CEO rode on his coat tails. There are many unhappy contributors with the way the club have treated them since the debt demolition and again it will come back and bite us. The arrogance of this administration does not sit well with many people.

So what's the beef?

Amazing. You believe (somewhat reasonably) that the club has a soft, mediocre culture. Yet want us to be punished if an official instructed the coach to tank? What difference does it make if the plan was from top brass, Dean Bailey or the cleaning lady? It was clear that bizarre moves were being made against Richmond & it was clear that we were tanking. It was a hard nosed approach aimed at giving the club the best draft position & shot at future success possible. Something that several other clubs have done successfully.

If you punish the club, you punish the supporters like you & I who have sat through this garbage over the past 6 years, 30 wins from 127 effing matches! All I'm clinging to is hope, hope that we can rise from this. If we were to admit systematically tanking the sanctions would be catastrophic & remove all hope, something we the supporters don't deserve.

If we were to admit tanking the only thing we would get that we would deserve is raucous laughter coming from Carlton, Collingwood, Hawthorn etc because we were such a rabble that we dropped ourselves in the [censored] and they got away with it Scott free.

Correct. Whoever is pushing this agenda has absolutely no regard for the Melbourne Football Club, its history and its loyal suffering supporters.

These faceless cowards are willing to send the club to the wall owing to their own selfish, no doubt money-driven motives.

Rats in the ranks indeed.

The only way this club will rise is through hard nosed work. Not through manipulating draft picks.

Back in 2008 i knew what they were doing, so did we all. I had a lot of trouble agreeing with it. For it to be successful the picks had to be 100% right. They were far from that so we are now in a perilous position.

Can we agree on that?

So what's the beef?

I've posted them on other threads but as a quick overview I think he is a devisive figure with players, supporters and the media. I don't think he should have been re appointed after the trouble he caused the club in the late 90's both financially and through loss of draft picks. I don't think he has handled key sponsorship issues well both the getting of those sponsors and retaining them. I think energy watch was a debacle which could have been avoided, I have my own theory on this but I can't substantiate it so the mods would not like me to add it here. He has overseen a failed rebuild and as CEO must take responsibility.

I think it is time for a change and now is the time to do it, we are getting kicked around so lets get on the front foot like we did with the football department make some changes that need to be made and give Neeld support to re build the club on field.

I hope that spells out what my thoughts are.

I can agree on that.

However, I can't agree that by admitting to tanking & facing massive sanctions ergo making the workload required that much bloody harder for ourselves from what youve labelled a "perilous position" that we've much of a future.

But there is nothing to admit. The club did it. We all know that.

Personally i would like to read the Red & Blueprint. Edition one.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
