I question the integrity and moral judgement of supporters who would even consider sacking club champions like moloney Green and davey.

your opinions should be regarded as poison.

I would love to meet some of you people in a pub after a few frothies. Especially rr. I know who would be the first running to the door.

It's a pity you can't cull some MFC supporters. You would think they would have learned after jnr Mac.

Obviously not. A friggin disgrace.

What's that even mean? What would you be doing that'd have us all wanting to bail?

Keep believing in fairies rr. Even if you fail, you still have the silver spoon to keep you safe.

I live in reality. I am a business owner, employing 19 men. The buck stops with me, i am accountable for the performance of the company, not the friggin storeman.

You have absolutely no idea, and it scares me how many people can't see the problem, or dimly blame it on the players.

Madness.

Did you employ all of them yourself?

Alright, so if you come into a hundred year old company on a 3 year contract and told to sort out a group of 40 men that have been consistently horrendous for the last 5 years, how long should you be given to turn the place around? 6 months?

All indications are we are headed for a significant list cull at the end of the season. There seems little doubt about this.

So, it's over to you. You get the chance to be Mark Neeld for a day. Who would you call into your office for a "quick chat" after round 22?

You are allowed multiple selections.

This is one of the sicker threads we come across on this forum. It brings out the worst self destructive fickle minded supporter. RR I think you are at the head of the list and should find another club. If you think the club is going to replace a dozen at the end of the year you obviously know nothing about list management. Try the filth.

No, this thread is reflective of the people wanting change. Enough's enough.

The red and blue guernsey deserves better.

It was a simple question to Tonatopia, Stu. Because, as Yossarian points out above, if he did have the luxury of choosing his own employees I'm wondering why he won't afford Neeld the same courtesy?

It's elementary, I would've thought.

If my electricians were slacking off, I'd sack the operations manager (head electrician). Not the apprentice.

The only change we need is a cultural change, and it is the culture that YOU represent that needs to be crushed.

I hope I can contribute to this change. I hope I already am.

You still haven't answered the question, Tona.

Did you choose your own crew of electricians?

I think some of us, and I am loathe to quote the man in this contest, need to get on the reality bus as Neeldy puts it.

Mark Neeld will be the coach next year. He is the man at the top and has set the agenda for the next little bit. Whether that agenda works out or not is a different question but to be so reactionary and sack him now would be stupid. He may be part of the problem but at the moment that is difficult to judge.

Many of the players who are being potted, rightly or wrongly, in this thread have been around the club for quite a while and can be moved on much more easily due to contract situations/trades. Next year, the parties who will be moved on will be the players. If the results continue to be bad leading into 2014, then the coach will have nowhere to hide and will be held accountable.

Facts are that 8-12 players will go. My guess is 9 or 10.

In all honesty, I have selected about 50% of them the others were selected by my partner.

Sometimes they go thru rough periods, ie divorce, cancer, depression, so I try to pick them up and utilize their strengths. I must keep them happy and motivated and performing. Something that neeld is clearly not doing.

This won't be a problem if it is done smartly. If there are some good 'depth' players we can sign we should look at them. When the club starts recruiting this time around, they need to look at building a team 1 through 22 rather than hoping some big buy from another club or a group of untested youngsters are the answer.

Try 6 weeks.

I agree.

Buying up big names only gets you so far.

Kelvin Templeton ,Jim Tilbrook ,Peter Moore ,Bian Wilson ,Brent Crosswell ,Chris Judd ,Nathan Buckley.......

The road to ruin is to aim for instant success .

Mitch Clark is an example of the type we need to get.

It's got to do with ability and character.

I remember when I played that before the big games some guys would go quiet and some would get focused .

As a player you know who will perform almost before you go ou to play .

Haha please. Green I have all the respect in the world for and I would give him another year if he wants it. Davey was a very good player but has had probably 2 decent seasons in the last 5. He is contracted for next year but I'd be surprised if he's still around after that - let's not also forget that he (and Green to a lesser extent) held us over a barrel the last time his contract was up for renewal so I don't see why supporters/the club shouldn't have the same pragmatic view as they did back then.

Moloney is one of the most over-rated players I have seen at this club in a long time. He does nothing that damages the opposition and his game yesterday exemplified this. Being pushed off the ball by Matt Campbell (170cm, 72kg) and blindly bombing the ball into a vacant forward line on 3 occasions instead of hitting up a shorter target (Rivers and Green in the first quarter) or looking in-board for a pass off (Grimes in the second) was some of the stupidest play I have seen from a MFC player in a long time. Seriously what is his value besides "bleeding red & blue"? He is slow, he can't handle a tag, he doesn't kick enough goals, he doesn't play defensively, if he gets the ball at a stoppage he just bangs it onto his boot under 10's style. If he wants to take a significant pay-cut I would consider keeping him on as depth for next year but I don't think the club owes him anything as you seem to.

Well aren't you and your partner lucky.

Must be hard for someone in a similar business who didn't have that luxury and had to deal with the reality that half his employees couldn't fix a light bulb to save themselves.

I don't mind the club bringing in big names per se. I thought Mitch Clark was a great pick up. I am wary of the club then looking at them as a 'savior' and then thinking every thing else will fall into place. The club can buy a good player but it mustn't come at the expense of lulling themselves into a false sense of security by thinking that all their problems are solved. The aim is to build a good team across the park, not to try and come up with some stop gap solution.

I wouldn't put your house on it.

I would be staggered if we havnt approached some 'big boy coaches'.

At board level, I am positive there would be discussions going on similar to what we are having here.

And I am sure that someone on the board would have brought up the names of malthouse, Roos and maybe even choco.

They have to, there is too much at stake not to at least explore the options.

Seriously, neeld has made us go backwards. What happened to one of my favorite players tapscott. He can't even get a game. Wtf is going on?

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
