According to Damien Barrett he has requested to be traded to Collingwood.

Bit rich to be picking and choosing, has barely caught an eye.

Does not surprise me - but lets hope there still is plenty water to flow under the bridge.

what a load of crap all this is how does josh caddy get to choose which club he goes to and why should gold coast let him, gold coast need to say if you want to go back to victoria you will be going to the club that gives us the best deal, if you dont like that nominate for the draft they need to look after themselves

Hope we implement and then strictly enforce the Swans' no d1ckhead policy.

It works.

Considering he has refused to even meet us, it looks like he should be put in the too hard basket. Our options may be decreasing as North have said Pedersen won't be traded and is contracted next year.

Yes it appears Caddy is another in the line of players (Judd, Hale, Burgoyne, Warnock, Ball) who have said "No thanks" to life at MFC. The underachieving culture is a problem. Caddy is looking at Blues, Cats, Pies and Kangas (Blues favoured).

footnote: Mitch Clark was a catch, but at a decent $$$ rate. Agree with the pick 12 trade and he will be a key to our future.

Average player nominates essendon one year, trade cannot get done while essendon dont have picks matching his worth.

next year picks a more sort after destination to make things easy haha

You can guarantee GC will be looking after themselves, don't worry about that. They will be wanting Beams, Pendlebury or Thomas or no go from them. Remember last year they wanted Hurley from Essendon and the deal fell through. Caddy will go to whoever can offer GC the best deal, not who Caddy wants to go to.

As for Adelaide, if they get pick 2 for Tippett my bet is they will pick up Toumpas and not Grundy, would guarantee it with Ox's 98%.

Sadly this does not surprise me. This is the year of all years we are going to be forced to get the cheque book out and over pay for a few.

But lets hope there is more water to flow under the bridge.

I'm going to do an Oliski - Hypothetically speaking

Scenario 1 North get Caddy.

North in Caddy - Out - pick 14 and your second rounder.

Melbourne Out pick 4 in Pick 14 Norths Second rounder & Gold coast second rounder

Gold In Pick 4 out Caddy & second rounder.

Net Result for us we on trade north second rounder for Stevens , We target Dean Towers with GC second rounder pick 14 to Port for Jacobs (which you might refine a little but that another thread) Viney for free in the second round.

North get Caddy Gold Coast trade for Tippett. We are all happy. Adelaide owe us big time

North say No - fine

Scenario 2 Collingwood get Caddy.

Collingwood in Caddy - Out - Wellingham

Melbourne Out Pick 4 - In Wellingham + GC 2nd rounder

Gold In Pick 4 out Caddy & second rounder.

Net result for us Wellingham + Gold Coast second rounder for player x, we still get Viney for free

Collingwood get Caddy then we do a deal on Martin

Gold Coast still on trade for Tippett. Adelaide owe us big time.

Both say no

Fine we do a deal to get Caddy.

This is hypotetically speaking. Because things do change.

The Tippet deal might look like

Gold Coast Out Pick 2 For Tippett.

New National Draft Order

1/ GWS - Whitfield

2/ Adelaide - Grundy

3/ Melbourne - Toumpas

4/ Gold Coast - Whatever or crack at 17 YO

I have a feeling gc may request Wellingham for Caddy but rassilons deal that gets us involved is enough.

All we need to do is somehow involve ourselves in any gc trade and we may be ok...even petterd for 3rd rounder or so may put us on their good side.

Caddy, who last week told the Suns he wanted to return to Victoria to continue his career, did the rounds this week in Melbourne, speaking with four clubs after narrowing his options following huge interest from most clubs.

It is believed he had previously declined an invitation to meet with Melbourne."

The wheel does turn.

This reminds me of the time when a certain Ryan Ferguson turned his nose up at the then lowly Hawthorn after a trade for Brad Sewell was suggested.

Karma got Ferguson and it will eventually get Caddy because he ain't all that good himself.

Re: the sewell trade and how we were dudded, reading the article on hawthorn today (can't remember which paper, sorry), you'd have to assume he wouldn't have developed into as effective a player at MFC, potentially even being a liability in the same mould as Bartram.

Clarkson brought a guy to the club with him in 2005 who remains, that works on the players kicking action and was said to improve Sewell from a poor kick to one who is of "acceptable AFL standard."

I'm not sure we'd have done the same.

So we let Caddy slide, because he has no interest in us. But that does not mean we dont try and squeeze into the deal if we have other deals on the go. Surely, we can deal with North & GC for a win-win all round. I suspect if we dont Bulldogs will do it and we could also easily get shafted on Viney. This trading period could easily go one of two ways if we try to be too greedy - some you win some you lose.

The other side benefits if we do get Pederson, might inflate the price of a Martin - might give us a genuine crack at Wellingham. Round about and swings.

Interesting times ahead - very pivotal year in our future.

Minimum ask will be Beams.

If caddy isnt interested then lets look at people who are

I 100% agree but we need to be active and get involved in these type of deals and not make the mistakes of the past. This could well be the "swing deal" of the whole trade period and could set in train a whole heap of dominos - if we aint in the loop we could get the right royal shaft. Greedy is a weakness you can exploit - please let it not be us that gets exploited.

Posted

And Collingwood will laugh in their face.

Like Essendon did when they asked for Hurley last year, and like last year Caddy won't get to where he wants to go. He is not a free agent, either a satisfactory deal gets done for GC (Wellingham will not be it), he stays or takes his chances in the PSD.

We can help GC here (and they can help us elsewhere). GC need to set a precedent that they won't be held over a barrel by players wanting to return home. They should tell Caddy they'll force him into the draft if he doesn't help them get a suitable deal and we should tell him that we'll pick him with ND13 or PSD3 whether he likes it or not. That'll force him to find a decent deal for GC.

Your on the ball here. I think its mostly abt getting ourselves involved one way or another as it will help our 2nd round Viney cause

Spot on. Again the timelines work in our favour. As much as GC may want to deal today - it wont happen.

GC will play hard ball - remember Port and Stephens? was it? GWS bound....

Hypothetically speaking this could well work in our favor. Hypothetically speaking it may also force us to make a decision we may not ordinarily make.

One way or another Im backing our boys to the hilt - no keyboard criticism from me.

Go Dees

Ps Well it took me nearly 300+ post to say it, [censored] a few "keyboard hero's" , "newspaper boys" & "forum bullies" off no great loss - good thing is they wont even know it. Its nearly time for the Time Lord Rassilon to be off.

Hope you have enjoyed the episodes all just a bit of fun - not everyones cup of tea I know. Might be back for the odd cameo - might keep an eye on the like button from a different planet.

Best of luck boys - Its a grand old flag a high flying flag the emblem for me and for you. Hang in there and dont believe everything you read in the newspapers - quite a few of you are smarter than that.

PSS - Whispering Jack & the mods you do a great job, keep up the good work.

Like Brisbane before with Clark, Gold Coast will make the best deal in return for Caddy.

The club hasn't spoken to him yet...

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
