Are there any ready made small forwards running round the lower leagues this year? As well as elite midfielders this has been a huge hole for us for a while. Aaron Davey was tried but is obviously not the answer.

The trade that landed the Saints Milera and Saad was an absolute masterstroke.

From memory they gave pick 20, and got Milera, Saad and pick 25 from GWS. All of a sudden with these two and Jack Steven coming on the Saints are a quick side.

The Dees must do something similar with our pick in the low 40's and/or Bate, Petterd etc.

I'm not sure how Tim Harrington still has a job when he was the 'List Manager' of a list with more holes than Swiss cheese.

I maintain that we need to try to snare young Minchington from the Saints. He's a rookie with them and given the small forwards they have now he's not likely to get much of a run in their senior side. He's a hard worker, good pace and improving rapidly.

That player could be Myke Cook.

I remember him from a freezing twilight game vs. Adelaide. His puff of sandy blonde hair meant he was easy to recognise, but he had the energy and zip around the contests and clearly had ability.

For whatever reason he couldn't get a look in after 2009 / 10 and I think he was unlucky to get axed last year. Since then he has been utterly dominant through the midfield in the VFL.

He's one of Neil Craig's kids, so I assume Myke has heard from us this year.

The real question is there any reason OUR recruiters did not make a play for Saad or Milera which the saints got for basically nothing, I watched Saad play at the Bullants last year and I thought he would be a great small foward for any AFL team, how could they miss that

Did anyone watch the Coburg-v-North Ballarat game on saturday?

There was a small forward playing for Coburg by the name of Adam Saad who looked quite likely, kicked a few goals and is pretty young I think.

There's also Nathan Page for the Scorpions who I like the look of. Played the last 2 games for Casey and his defensive work is really good for a small forward. Reminds me of a young Stephen Milne with Sandy blonde hair.

I dont know about Ahmed Saad, but I think we should look at drafting Matt Dyer.

He won the player of the carnival in the national championships - played for Vic country 2.

He is 27, but he is a culture changer, a leader and a dominant hard ball get machine.

We need leaders around this age, we dont need skirt riders like Saad.

Minchington-I like the name-sounds like a crappy but affordable bottle of Champagne. Hopefully more Champ and less pain.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
