Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Will Martin get his chance back or will they give Cook a go....

Certainly Martin adds size, skill & ruck attribute to his game.

Or will they blood the youngster in Lucas Cook at full forward.

I think Martin may get the nod ahead but its a good time for Cook to step up.

Thoughts....?

Cook, please.

There's finally some structure and some discipline to this footy team.

Having Stef Martin in the team is like having a big labrador run through your freshly laid concrete.

Cook.

It's time to unwrap the cotton wool. You've got blokes like Cameron who is as skinny as Morton, Watts debuting as a stick insect- injuries can happen to anyone- just ask Clark FFS :(

Unleash the cookie monster. It's time, I'm growing impatient. Been looking forward to his debut ever since we drafted him and I need something to look forward to now after the bad news we just recieved

JR did you see him on saturday?

Cook is still a skinny kid who looks average at Casey.

He would get killed by the Lions back line as well as be pushed out of the road by an average size backman.

He would be as imposing as the sea gulls that wander around during the breaks.

If cook is to make it at AFL level he has to do a lot more yet at Casey.

First step would be to put on 20KG.

IMO it is Martin In, there is no one else at present, all the other possibilities are injured or not fit enough for a full game at AFL level.

So it is your Labrador I am afraid

That is a really poor reason to play him SMF.

Cameron is played by GWS because there is no one else and the kid has talent.

Watts was played too early and we know what happened he should not have played till the following year.

Cook is the same, it is 2013 when he is up to playing with men.

Don't feed him to the Lions because you are impatient.

Old dee I don't think it matters if he gets pushed around a bit, this season is shot. If we wait for him to put on another 20kg we will never see him play.

Time to start getting games into him now!

Cook is skinny at 196cm and 86kg, Cameron & Watts only 3kg heavier, but from reports has been doing well at Casey kicking a couple of bags and on different days presenting and marking well.

Sometimes a step up in competition can make people improve quicker also. I couldnt imagine good delivery at VFL level either.

Having said that if its Martin I would also be supportive. :)

We are going to disagree on this one SMF.

I think it matters a lot.

Cook is seriously under size

Playing too early could ruin him.

If the season is shot then why risk him?

Let him play at Casey for 2012.

Oh for Darling right now!!!

Cookie is miles too small and should play out the year at Casey. Martin for mine.

Or give the Fitz a run at perma-FF, he knows how to play it.

Agree on one Striker

Fitzpatrick is under done follow his illness he only played Casey 2nds on the weekend.

I doubt we will see him at AFL level for some time yet.

If we were in the running for anything this year I would say Martin, but we aren't. We aren't going to make finals, it doesn't matter how many more games we win, so get some games into the kids.

Cook doesn't have to be the replacement for Clark, I just want him in the forward line getting a taste. This week I would bring in Cook and Tapscott to replace Clark and Moloney. I would play keep Tappy and Sylvia around the forward line to make Cookie walk taller.

Can't say I watched the entire game, but, from all reports it was a 'difficult' day for all.

I understand where you're coming from, but given the choice, Cook has great hands and he's a converter - Stef has always had the yips.

I doubt that Neeld will want to play someone that needs a couple of minders, if he can't look after himself he shouldn't be there.

This is starting to look like the "play Juice campaign" we had on here and on Ology, it was only after we did that we found Juice was where he should be, at Casey.

Yeah someone on this forum who knows the ground well said it was a shocking ground for forwards down at Sandy, quite narrow from memory. Cook has been doing well in different roles.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
