As I said in the changes thread, agree 100%. Did a selfless job for this team. Most people on here just seem to attack the same players after every loss no matter how they play.

Correct, I should also add Morton to this. Although he still lacked some polish, we saw some positives and yet people get on here and bash him. In times gone by Morton would not have kicked that goal in traffic. He would have just stuck in on the boot with no presence of mind but this time he had awareness to take the game on and have a good snap at goal with lots of pressure around him.

No disrepect to the original poster. But I do remember sitting there at one point with Bate in the midfield playing as well as he has in years and STILL being slow, with Dunn playing a negative role, and I just thought, this isn't good...

I get your point but isn't it more of a poor reflection of the recruiting staff who recruited these players with early picks and got it so terribly wrong as well as the club that has continued to foster their average performances rather than cut them lose back in the Bailey years?

Is it the players fault they have the capability and limitations they have? Is it the players fault the club picked them with a low draft pick thinking they would be great players when they simply don't have that in them?

More a poor reflection on us as a club and our poor decision making than the players and their limitations.

I watched on TV and wasn't there, so perhaps someone who was there can clarify something for me. If Dunn did such a brilliant job on Murphy, how come every time the camera panned to him he'd be jumper punching #22 (Addison, I think?)? I assumed that was his bloke.

Where he was taken in the draft is completely irrelevant to how he played yesterday.

Dunn made a contribution by quieting Murphy and ensuring Addison did not lay into Davey too much. I have no idea how much of a contribution it was, but it was a contribution all the same (not sure if it was worthy of played well).

That ageing has-been is a brilliant footballer who was stunning in the first half yesterday. He was all australian for a reason last season. (just thought I'd correct you on this one)

Neeld mentioned Dunn as being good after half time by keeping Murphy to 6 touches during that period.

Morton was average tonight, but I think there was enough positives in his game tongiht. he had a crack. One missed hand ball, a kick down teh oppositions throat but I thought that was moreDunns fault when he doubled back and expected Morton to kick it 60 meters when he was stationary after being hemmed into teh boundry line by the dogs.

Bingo. He did maybe 3 or 4 good things in the last quarter but people are forgetting the first 3. So many poor errors and still does not run hard when he gets beaten in a contest. He's an extremely soft footballer. There were some good plays but it was far from a good game.

Dunn was good in negating in the second half but he also played a first half. For the whole 4 quarters he was appalling with his inability to play in front of a man, not chase until the contest was out of his direct area and have a total of 4 touches.

He is good when he is given a defensive job. If he just roams around as an attacking player, he's poor.

He did very well to shut down Murphy in the second half, when moved onto him, because Murphy was ripping us a new one (as always). But if that is his only trick, he'll struggle to keep himself in the side. Can't have a forward who can't lead, refuses to play in front, and won't make any impact on the scoreboard.

At least Sellar, who had like 2 disposals til 3/4 time was trying to bust packs open and bring the ball to ground. Dunn should have been all over those spilled balls, but wasn't.

Not a bad defensive job therefore he made a contribution, which is more than most, but I agree, how many times can you be stuck behind as a forward, its is unacceptable. For a guy of 190 cms he may as well be 175, he just doesn't use his height at all.

Dunn might have done OK on Murphy but that was only for one half. His forward play was shocking. His leading, timing and skills were groan-worthy and on number of occasions the whole stand where I was sitting groaned together when he stuffed up another moment in time. His greatest skill is his set-shot-for-goal kicking, but he can't find the ball. Then when he kicks on the run it is terrible to watch. Belowe standard for mine.

Dunns defensive pressure was the highest i noticed. He ran from player to player with urgency, arms up, carralying them ect. And he did the defensive job on Murphy who for a has been had about 18 touches and was best on in the first half.....

Not so sure Dunn was on Murphy the whole time, but if he gets credit for the 2nd half, what the hell was he doing in the first half when Murphy seemed to have his own footy?

All he seems interested in doing is pushing, shoving and mouthing off at opposition players instead of finding the pill. Not to mention what he looks like with that Mo - it's embarrassing!!! He has had plenty of time to cement a permanent spot in the team and has not done so. Players like Dunn are part of the reason of where we are currently at - he has failed to step up to the plate. He must go at seasons's end.

Dunn had two posessions upto 3/4 time! I dont care how well someone was playing as a negating role, and I'm pretty certain where I was sitting that Davey was on Murphy for at least the first half.

He and Sellar were both liabilities for the greater part of the night, and highlight our current malaise that they simply are too slow and dont have enough tricks to be a modern forward. Why Tom Mc wasnt at least tried for part of the game up forward to stretch an already wafer thin Bulldogs backline leaves me flummoxed.
