Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The key players in Carlton's recruiting process are, according to the Blues' website ...

National Recruiting Manager

Shane Rogers

Recruiting Manager

Wayne Hughes

I don't know what 'key player' means to you but to me it means the person makes key decisions at or very near the top of the tree.

So you think the Carlton website is going to detail his full role?

'key player' in modern day recruiting is not all about talent identification in 18YO's. Carlton have plenty people to do that role.

Do you think it possible that a "key role" could be the identification of talent on your oppositions lists? Then overlaying that information with your knowledge about the 18 YO.

I think they wanted the trifecta, they already had Brock and Chris and Bazza was the final link in the chain.

They really have pillaged us haven't they?

Now there is a very interesting point said in "jest" - if you thought about ,, Have Carlton made any blunders in recent years?

Think last Saturday - does the name Grigg ring any bells - Brock nice example. Also should add the buzz words of the up-coming recruiting process - FREE AGENCY.

Could you see any advantages with BP skills set and FREE AGENCY.

Just a thought

I can't see any skills set that BP would bring anywhere and I'm not real good at obscure references so I'm not sure what you're inferring.

Certainly would not be knowing which MFC players to pinch

You couldn't but Carlton could? ahhhhhh - Do you even know his skill set? Yet you are bagging him. Yet Carlton a professional football club head-hunt him.

But wait he is Carltons "opposition analyser" - some might say he would have an intimate knowledge of ALL lists.

But there could be more - I wonder what else he would have a intimate knowledge about. He does have a recruiting back-ground.

He can take his pick but I doubt that they will fall for that again.

Perhaps we could throw up a few names, Dunn, Bate, Davey... Hell they can have them all.

He might have bigger fish to fry this year. B)

Just a thought.

Yeah bad luck for us about that another trophy on their shelf.

Brock still on the payroll? He was headhunter wasn't he?

It's all about perceptions; we're perceived as a weak club with players that aren't prepared to put up when the going gets tough.

Now whether that's true or not it's what the average football supporter sees our club as, in fact a lot of our own supporters have a perception of our club as being soft.

There's the the odd player that we pick up that has a certain element of toughness about him, Natan Carroll springs to mind, but it's not generally mental toughness the type that's required when the chips are down and the result of the game is on the line.

Our bad boys are the type that will sneak out and have a drink during the week, not like say a Robinson from Carlton who'll do anything to win a game, we fall down in that area and quite badly.

And that's all to do with the type of player we recruit; maybe it's all a coincidence or maybe they fall in to line when the come to the club.

Yes remember that game against Essendon in the early 90's.....Melbourne up by 46 points i think at 3/4 time....

We lost that one, & my next door neighbour laughed at me for years afterwards...just like the Hawthorn supporters who i had to watch the '88 Grand Final with..

Other teams have loved playing Melbourne since '65.

(John Northey not with standing....except '88)

Carlton Collingwood Hawthorn and Essendon were Powerhouse clubs when i was at school & still are.

Apparently our boot studder is also set to join Carlton and will form a key component of their fitness team.

hahahaha - I'm not sure they have the same skill set as BP - but if he the boot studder did - all clubs would be interested in talking to him.

But you think he went backwards - hehehehehe - well lets see. And you call yourself the master of the un-written/un-said.

But you wanted the Carlton website to detail his full role - good one.

I was at that game sitting in the old Olympic stand surrounded by Essendon supporters who bagged their players all day but hailed them as heroes when they won. We kicked the first goal of the last quarter too.

What he might head hunt some of our A Grade stars who are up for free agency?

Like errr and errr, oh that's right there aren't any are there.

You are so insular in your thinking - How many teams are they in the AFL?

Whats his "role" again at Carlton. Just remind me how you can obtain players in the recruiting process in 2012?

You've got nothing have you, all bluff and bluster. Come back when you want to talk sense.

BP's record is there for all to see, even you should be able to "analyse" it. Just remember even Carlton can make mistakes.

BTW this professional club was broke not that long ago and they needed a their to bail them out.

Interesting reply - somebody might help you. BP had such a "bad" record that a professional football club (Carlton) would head hunt him? (Strange)

Now wait a minute - the very bloke you and others want to continually criticise - that he did such a bad job. Some tell me around here that it was our recruiting thats the problem. We have not had the "ability to recruit well"?

BP record is there for all to see? - (your words not mine)

But Carlton a professional football club thought he did that bad a job they would employ him? The makes no sense to me - unless the people telling me that our recruiting is the problem are wrong?

Oh thats right - you want to claim Carlton are wrong? (hehehehe - I dont think so)

Let me get this straight - you want me to listen to a bunch of Internet heroes over the Carlton football club.

Then when asked what is his role at Carlton? Nobody including the master of the un-written/unsaid could work it out?

I'm sure somebody will be smart enough to work it out - but then again maybe they wont.

Time will tell.

PS Dont bag a bloke you know nothing about - its the height of disrespect.

I for one was very sad to see him go. I will never forget one of Mark Neelds first press conferences when discussing our recuting team he was amazed "at the knowledge and details" our blokes know.

BP is a huge loss to the MFC & I wish him well in his new pivotal role at the Carlton football club.

Carlton didn't employ him for a recruiting role. They picked him for another role that his years of experience in footy is probably well suited to.

What was Neeld going to say? Our recruiters are no good just before the draft?

I wish BP well, but for mine I was skeptical when he came to the club as he didn't have huge experience in recruiting and whilst I'm disappointed with the situation for this year (Todd Viney heading our recruiting instead of a full time recruiting manager with experience)I don't think replacing BP was the worst idea.

Top of the Ponsford. With a crew of Melbourne and some bombers mates. Sitting amongst a sea of rabid bomber fans. After that first goal i yell at the top of my (quite loud) voice PERCENTAAAAAGE!!!!. Big mistake and one i was reminded of very vociferously. My percentage calls after that have generally come about the 29 minute mark when we are 6 goals up (and i don't get many of those opportunities either)

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
