EnergyWatch Sponsorship Cancelled

Good decision by the club. The timing is bad, but what can we do. I expect the "2nd" Sponsor to be announced pretty quick. Polis is a complete [censored].

If that's correct then the club has stuffed up in its due diligence. They would be all over problems with a potential playing recruit...fail?

If that is the case, then it highlights how poorly the MFC looked into this clown. Talk about failure at doing due diligence. The media throng were right onto it at the PC, and rightly so. How could we have failed so miserably to not do our homework on this? Maybe we saw the $ offered and forgot to do anything else. Wouldn't surprise, because we had nothing in terms of sponsors at that time, just like right now. Not the MFC's fault, but someone needs to be held accountable. Overlooking Stuart Fox is now starting to look as bad as overlooking Darling for Cook.

Is it due diligence looking at the private Facebook of a senior member of a company? Personnel at the top can rotate regardless. I'm still unsure on this one, there's a line between due diligence and being over the top. Ultimately, everyone has flaws.

whats Arsene Wenger got to do with EW?

Ok. The playing group has been backed up twice this week.

The players have got to gut run till exhaustion on saturday.

Stand Up.

They might wanna Watch their Energy levels a little

feel bad for all the kids who brought new jumpers this year.

Yeh....the war office bought one for son on Saturday...her account too .... bracing myself

If the club had any clue how to do a proper background check, they wouldn't need to look at a facebook page now would they. Surely this Pollis's character would have come out if we were thorough. But alas, we have let another one deceive us.

We couldn't find it in Scully, now we couldn't find it in Pollis. The question has to be asked, are the people running our club the best candidates? We sure have our problems at the moment don't we. And we aim to become an elite club, LOL.

Demons pull Energy Watch sponsorship

Posted by: 3AW Radio | 5 April, 2012 - 7:30 AM

UPDATE: Ben Polis has stepped down as the CEO of Energywatch due to the series of racist and sexist remarks on his Facebook page.

The Chief Financial Officer and Co-founder of Energy Watch, Mr Luke Zombor, will take over the CEO role.

Now that the problem has been dealt with - getting rid of that idiot ben polis - couldn't we sit down with the new CEO and see if we couldn't just continue our agreement with EW?

have a joint press conference with Cam schwab and Luke zombor denouncing polis and his comments and state both parties are happy to continue with the arrangement in place?

Is there a reason that wouldn't work?..

so are you suggesting the club hire an extra head - e.g. a Psychiatrist specialising in personality profiling.

or do you think CEOs should have a degree in Psychiatry?

Ideally yes, but I would say that the damage is already done, even with a new CEO the "that company" brand is very much damaged goods.

In these situations with pyramid-scheme type ventures one co-founder is usually as insane as the other.

The MFC has run from this crowd, and if you are reading this, don't touch them with a twenty foot pole.

Yes there are many, not last of which is the brand is Energywatch, a brand that will forever be tainted. It is a company that is dead in the water

He is a half owner of the company, maybe even a majority shareholder i.e. Ben Polis IS Energy Watch. EW are rearranging deck chairs ATM just to try and stop the bleeding!

He's the owner still and the major shareholder, as DC mentioned.

You can't seperate EW from Polis so easily.

It's just a PR move, EW is still Polis.

Bummer..

..didnt realise he was onwer, or part onwer.

are we cursed or what??

Which begs the question of why this story breaks today, and by whom.

Yes 2 years is a long time to wait. I think the health of our President is the only answer here. But it is still murky considering when EW was signed up. Maybe that is the reason Hancook & Kasperksy walked???

I hope I won't just be shot down... but can someone explain to me.

Energy Watch is a company. It's CEO and co-owner was Polis, but it is much more than 1 person. It will continue to function and be the same business now that Polis is out of the picture.

If energy watch sacks him as CEO (already done) and distances itself from him, then why couldn't the club have kept the sponsorship with Energy Watch.

Surely a company is bigger than one employee! Why throw away $6m, when we're in such a precarious position, when we could keep it and just distance ourselves from the one disgusting human being

Actually I think this was Ben Polis' plan the whole time. Paid overs for sponsorship and had no intention of following through with it. Blew it up creating more publicity without having to fork out any substaintial amount of money. It's worked out perfectly for him.

Apologies to Range Rover. I hope I'm not stealing your thunder!

lol! I'm still digging around for a Polis - Demetriou nexus but the best I can do is come with this guy ... http://www.facebook.com/people/Polis-Demetriou/633095221

Seriously, good on the club for the response. They should also now back Davey to the hilt and stare down the big bad wolf on that issue, too.

We are witnessing the birth of a new club, rising like a pheonix from the ashes of 186 and the fighting legacy of Jim Stynes.

Because he owns the bloody company

This bullsh*t about 'due dillegence' is crap.

We are not the only major sporting organisation who signed a deal with them, and as somebody mentioned before, plenty of dodgy companies are currently sponsoring AFL clubs.

How were we to know that their nutbag CEO was going to have a case of verbal vomit?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
