GAME DAY - Round 1

Mmmmmmm, Watts havin a go as r all the lads havin a dip at the pill........

how about a clearance?? moloney is just not there today

After some pretty ordinary footy, the Dees finally score with a really nice bit of work from Watts.

Brad Green, Aaron Davey, Brent Moloney - Melbourne's "star" senior players everyone. Not the greatest start to the year for them.

Could be the start of the leadership change fallout... Although we are only 1 quarter into the season

Is it wrong that I'm over this season already?

Our midfield is killing me. So many battlers.

At least the weather is beautiful.

If any one needed to be shown why Trengove is a capt they need only be here today. He's taken to it like a duck to water.

Overall it's not a lot to cheer about . Some sublime moments ruined by some very loose manning in defense. We are not getting a clean first use at stoppages. Endeavor is good, execution is so so. Magnet a terrif find.

Hopefully we'll see some better footy in second half

If this is Melbourne pumped, I am a bit worry when the Jim stynes factor starts to settle. Fundamental errors costing us and a lack of effort from our most senior players. Hopefully the 2nd half will be a little different. Torch has to replaced on Davey and Green, especially.

Yes it is wrong, considering we're still in the game and our senior players are showing Neeld what they're really made of. The sooner he learns what we already know about them, the better off we'll be.

Doesn't matter who you have in the forward line we can't buy a bloody clearance fair dinkum!

Davey isn't AFL standard anymore hate to say it. He watches and hopes for a dish out. He's lost his pace and his little 15 metre passes do nothing.

Moloney is doing nothing.

Jones started good and went a bit quiet. Good signs by Magner and Tynan showing a bit of heart. Bail very good, Martin showing signs and if Howe could hang on to his marks he would be a lot better.

This is going to be a long, long season. God we lack midfield class and it is plain for all to see!

Oh and Trengove solid, Grimes and Rivers started good. Apart from those positives the rest have been average. Long season :(

These umpires are [censored]! I hate this game!

The umpires have screwed them just as much as they have us.

A long season looms I'm afraid if this goes on

We are just a horrible football side and I would be very suprised if we don't finish bottom 4

No heart. No determination. No guts.

So far today, an embarrassment for our entire club.

If they can't turn it around today, I think I'm done.

I know it's Round 1 blah blah blah, but enough is enough, we will never have more reason to win than today and we still can't muster up a decent effort.

Moloney and Davey will find themselves at Casey next week.

Getting pumped by a no name Bears team so far.

Moloney what a flat Tracker.

Another Bears Goal...

Thought we'd be 2 wins at halfway, i think we'll be 0 wins now

I can't stomach this rubbish. Disgusting. Constant bombing it forward. Every. Single. Time.

Why is Clint Bartram a leader?

After a big week and build up and to put up this crap it's a sad day to be a dees supporter

I'm just disgusted with this

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
