Hawthorn v Melbourne: NAB Cup 3

Featured Replies

The over umpiring is frustrating. The reverse against Sylvia was a joke. Franklin was laughing as they are good mates. But the amount of times they ducked there head and got the free kick. THen we lay 3 or 4 good tackles for no reward then 30 seconds later on the wing Garland was tackled and ofcourse holding the ball. Also when Davey put the hands in the back and the mess up the umpires had massively penalised the Hawks.

Yeah, that's good to know. I had us pinned for the flag until this.

I didn't...but i expected better than this...Losing Magner in the first couple of minutes did not help the cause..but that's footy.

If we had played as well as the Hawks have "double kicks hand passes marks and every other stat known to man" i would want to be more than 5 goals up. Just saying

OK I missed the first 20 minutes but it's clear as weird as the NAB Cup is, it's true in one sense - the umpiring stinks!

Davey tackled high a la Sewell - ahhh but you play for a bottom side, my son, no free

Jamar tries to protect his position in a ruck contest...let's give it to the Dawks

Buddy slams Sylvia, Sylvia responds...well let's reverse the first free paid to Melbourne for 20 minutes

Watts dispossesses Cheney close to goal...play on see above.

Howe still looks good, Dunne looks like he has a future

Guys lets not worry yet we could come back and finish strong with the work we have put in over the pre season lets go demons

David Hale is crap yet he destroys us every time. I hate Hawthorn but don't know if we will ever beat them.

Why? Why must we always look so pathetic against this team?

I don't expect a win but I expect us not to fall over so weakly without a yelp.

Hale is far from Crap, he had a very productive season last year...pity we couldn't snare him at the time...Tried real hard.

I know David King rates himself a genius special comments man; but as a boundary rider, part of his role is to find out the extent of players' injuries. I haven't heard a thing about Magner from him at all. Not good enough, IMO.

Hawthorne always kill us but i think the events this week might have played a part in this show. I hope im wrong but they seem like there in another world.

Not an excuse for a professional team....the players had nothing to do with it at all.

Yes i know but look at the saint last year

Umpiring today has been massively sh!t, but that is what happens when you are constantly chasing tail.

Our midfield is really just incredibly poor.

The Saints are another hopeless club i don't want to be compared to them at all...I know it is the NAB Cup, but our coaching staff have got a lot of work to do..

As has been the case for decades...when serious pressure is applied to this club we submit to it, Northey was the only one to almost eradicate it...& even he couldn't...

Will be fascinating to follow what Neeld & Craig do in the following weeks.

The Achilles heel, hey...

The Achilles heel, hey...

And it's a pretty big one.

You can win a flag with average towards and defenders, but nobody has ever won a flag with a crap midfield lacking class.

A Mod on a power trip..... now there's something new.

Aren't we allowed any opinions anymore?

Yes, I'm on a power trip - that's why I've been deleting and editing your posts, and banning you etc. Oh wait - I haven't done any of that. I always get a great belly laugh when people accuse me of being a power tripper - no clue whatsoever.

I'm just in a bad mood, really.

Yes, you're allowed your opinion, and guess what? I'm allowed to dismiss it, just as the same as any other poster on this site.

is it really that unreasonable a request, to have fair umpiering? The AFL is fixed!!!! [censored] this [censored]!!!!!!!

88 marks to 30 says plenty too, they have had over 100 possessions more than us.

Seriously, I'm not that drunk but are we being raped by the umpires or what? Sure, we are ordinary, but there seems to be 2 different rules for two sides....

woeful.

P.s: the long, hurried kick is NOT a game plan.

Our kicking is woeful. Half the time it's literally kicking in hope and hitting a target is coincidental.

although hawks do have a game plan of lots of short kicks and we now have a game plan of kicking long

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
