Leadership Crisis

Was on 3AW. Not a lot said. Harped back top the Bailey sacking and that the players had too much say re Cameron Schwab etc. Brother of soon to be football director stated that all Brad Green has done wrong was complain about the working conditions last year after being asked his opinion. Clearly they indicated it was very much Bailey and the players vs CS and the admin.

Niall thinks they will go with co captains of Grimes or Trengove with a senior player. Only name he mentioned was Beamer and that was asking teh question whether he is up to it. He wasn't sure.

No facts given, no proof given just a hunch

Quality radio. talk bout quite news week (aside from the tennis)

If it was Bailey & the players v the admin did he have an inkling that 186 was going to happen? Lets not forget that Casey got murdered on that day also...interesting scenario's there. Maybe Bails had had enough???

That was the point they made that players forgot to support him on field. Players play, coaches coach etc was trotted as well and that Neeld was going to quickly haul anyone into line who steps out.

Very interesting. You would think if there was a distinct rift the players and coach would have been absolutely Rock Solid. In a way i am glad it all happened...get it all out.

They clearly don't have a bloody clue if they think all Green did wrong last year was complain.

There's a lot more than that that he did wrong.

I agree .He did not show leadership on the field and don't forget Viney dropped him due to poor form.CS is the boss.Like it or lump it- that is the case. Also this most probably will be Brad's last year.Under Bailey we lost Junior, Bruce, Miller - all still required as leaders or players at other clubs. Now, we have to develop the younger brigade.

I am never glad about a 30 goal thrashings not ever.

No matter what the longer term result.

Spoke to a couple of the players late last year and according to them that story is greatly exaggerated.

That's not to say there was nothing in it but the bulk of the players had absolutely no involvement in the brouhaha at all and the saga was greatly embellished by people in the media who had issues with one of the parties involved.

Thankfully, we've recovered from that although it's very possible that there's going to be some more fallout.

What you say must be closer to the truth. Otherwise it just doesn't add up at all.

But the fact both teams got murdered on the same day does say lots was not right.

31 goals thank you very much, let's not short change the sheer utter rubishness of that day. $#%&! Still angry about it.

It is something that our team really needs to redress, some time within the life of most of the current playing group.

WE need to beat someone, anyone, by >186. I don't care if it is GWS or GCS, though I would prefer if it were Essendung, Carlscum or CollingEd.

WE also need to inflict a >100 point GF winning margin to purge our last two GF appearances.

IT IS TIME TO AIM HIGH!!!

i had purged 186 from my memory....

need a scotch now.

we also seriously need to DEESTROY GWS. i mean a serious, physical and mental pounding from minute one till final siren. we should be aiming for a record AFL high score in this game.

as for a winning GF margin - i dream about winning one and the feeling that would come with it (as well as the month long bender i will have) - but we would have to be 20 goals up at 3/4 time for me to enjoy it......and i would love that. i was going to say 10 goals but id be too scared we would throw it away!

That 20 goal Grand Final victory sounds great Benno..but in some ways I would love a one point victory against a magnificent tough opponent just as much...especially if they were the favourites! :)

yes, but if it was a 1 point loss i may die out of sheer disappointment.

and if its a 1 point win i may have a heart attack. lets do what the cats did, win by heaps the first time and then we can have a few closer ones. haha

Yes I can relate to the heart attack risk with a close one! LOL

I disagree that it's a crisis. Sure there is no standout option, but it's not like we have NO options. There a quite a few candidates who could have a very strong case made for them:

Jones: see what vanlo said.

Frawley: All Australian full back who has stamped his authority on just about every FF out there. He leads by example in every game he plays, and will be around for the long haul.

Trengove: Maybe a touch too young, but is red and blue, through and through.

Moloney: Apart from one off field indiscretion in 2011, the role would be all his.

Green: Leading under difficult circumstances in 2011, could be argued that he deserves another chance.

Rivers: Leader in the back line, veteran of the club. Could be an interim leader while JT or JG continue their development.

Grimes: Troubled by injuries, but by all reports a natural leader, and also a Demon through and through.

Jamar: Strong on field performances in the past 2 years have changed him from a fringe player at the Demons to an all australian. I doubt he'll be selected due to a lack of leadership experience.

I'm not worried about the captaincy, as I'm sure Neeld and co will make the right decision for the club, be it co-captains, or a standalone.

I agree, why is this a crisis? The reality is not much has changed for a long time. Though I do see more potential for a future real leader lurking in our current group than for the past decade.

Good Times Grimes.........Absolutely 100% agree with all that you said. In my opinion, If I was to choose anyone I'd have to say Nathan Jones. Hes getting better every year and had a great 2011 season. And has the maturity to go with it. And I like Jamar, but I think hes happy just doing his Thang in the ruck.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
