$25 Mill was going through our club not long ago...now it is around $40 Mill...that is certainly a positive, as long as it is growing.

And what sort of operating profit (excluding one off extraordinary items) are we making?

The fact is that MFC are spending $15 million more that it did some years ago just to compete and we still dont have a significant sustainable profit nor accumulated cash/capital should be an obvious indicator how the competitive bar in the AFL has risen and that after repaying the debt, While we may be getting increased revenues we are subject to greater spending on facilities, non playing staff, player fitness and players. MFC is operating hand to mouth just to break even.

And the competitive bar wont be getting lower.....

I would have thought the fact we are spending an additional $15M and still turning a profit is a positive thing? Sure we still have work to do but why dump on the club when they are moving in the right direction? Rome wasn't built in a day as they say and the Demons task of taking over the modern day Colisseum is a gradual process that is moving in the right direction.

No doubt it's a positive. But it's highlighting the fact the club is not out of the woods by a long shot and the lookout for a significant and sustainable profit with copious amounts of cash and capital to stay ahead of the game and the Jones' continues. Hardly dumping on the club when they're the first to acknowlegde the difficulty of the challenge ahead.

My impression of what Schwab said was that in 2012 we will be spending $15m more than we did a few years ago.

I don't know what the jump will be from this year that we will have to make up but it remains a point of interest.

I am ok with breakevens or small losses but I don't see us exploding in revenue any time in the next couple of years to allow us to match the footy funding of the big clubs.

That's just the way it is at the moment.
