I think you are longing for the past.....

He may well play til he is well past 35yo but it wont be in the AFL.

If he cant handle heavy tags, (lets face it he cant handle any tags period) then he cannot afford to lose one iota of pace. He is at the crossroads at the moment and needs to redeem himself.

At the moment he struggles win his own ball, cannot stand physical pressure and displays inexplicable immaturity on the ground....and he is a team leader.

If Neeld seriously walks the talk then Davey would not want to display the 2011 vintage stuff at all.

I think you have covered him perfectly in 6 lines RR.

Hope it is not the case But I think his best is well behind him.

Couldn't have put it better Rhino.

2 years of a $400k? contract to go......hmm

Was Davey on the track this past week? Any one notice him? As much as anyone, he needs a massive pre-season.

Add to that 'huge preseason' a marathon session in the psych chair to figure out what goes wrong in his head when he's challenged by an opponent.

It's not that. I believe it does have a lot to do with confidence and self-belief following a run of injuries. Often when that happens, an athlete can start doubting whether he still has the physical attributes necessary for him to perform at his peak. Flash articulated this himself when I heard him speak at a function at which the Liam Jurrah book was launched (not the oficial launch). He talked about injuries, getting older and slowing down and I got the impression, he had convinced himself that he could never regain his speed.

I think he needs to put such thoughts out of his mind. He can freshen up physically and get positive about what he can do and if that happens, we'll see the Aaron Davey of old. This pre season is very important for Flash and I think the new training regime at the club will help greatly.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
