Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

25 wins from 25 starts for Black Caviar. The legend grows. And absolutely brains another 5 group one winners in the process in the TJ Smith Stakes at Royal randwick in Sydney.

Nolen rode her a treat from barrier one and after looking to be boxed in by Schofield, just eased into a good position after momentarily in trouble on the turn, then went BANG and left them for dead.

Biffen, Eppaluette who ran 2nd will be a star in her own right, a real good horse, keep a watch on her.

Hay List admittedly underdone by the trainer (one run short), just ate the turf kicked up by Black Caviar when straightening then lost her in the straight when Black Caviar turned on the after burners.

One of her best runs in her career and Nolen brought out the whip for I think the first time.

Runaway winner in a top class field.

Randwick was a sea of salmon and black. Sydney put up their best and Black Caviar said, is that the best you've got.

Looks as though she might travel back over to Royal Ascot (option only at this stage), to find more competition.

Sad day for racing.

Not at all. It's a proud day for racing - the fact that those associated in the industry, and the general Australian public, had the honour of being able to see a truly remarkable story.

This chapter has closed, but the Black Caviar story will last our life time.

Did you know that in her 25 starts, Black Caviar has beaten 132 horses who have won a combined total of 835 races, and 37 Group 1 winners who have won a combined total of 69 races?

No time records, no weight records, but....

A 100% winning record is pretty amazing.

She couldn't have done much more.

I'll stop goading.

Hats off to her and Moody.

A perfect career.

Freakish animal.

Sickeningly good.

There I said it.

Did she not break the Flemington record earlier this year in the race named after herself?

No time records,

She holds the all time 1200m time record at Flemington, doesn't she?

For a horse to consistently clock around 11 seconds for the middle sectional like no other, speaks volumes.

Superstar.

She beat the mighty Specials record, im pretty sure Special broke that record on a very Fast track.

Biff, I think that's the scariest/amazing part for me. She was eased down in most of her races, and I'm buggered if I recall her "button" ever being pressed. The TJ Smith 2 years back was probably the only time I can remember that Nolen had to ask her to go (apart from Ascot, which were probably different circumstances due to injury), and wow, did she go. I still think that's her best win out of the 25.

I remeber when Ben Melham rode her one day at Flemington, can't remember why - I think Nolen may have been suspended. BC kicked clear (as she did), but Melham still rode her out. She didn't like it, swished her tail a few times. She knew she was in no danger and didn't appreciate Melham whipping her.

An amazing racehorse, an honour to be able to go through the rest of my life having experienced it. And will be a great topic of conversation over a beer when trying to work out if she was the greatest ever.

I think you're right regarding Nolen's suspension for Melham taking the ride.

I thought Nolen rode her out in the TJ Smith in her last too against a very strong field.

The TJ Smith a couple of years ago was when Hay List was at her best and BC had to run hay List down over the last furlong. Certainly had to dig in on that occassion. But passed Hay List and won by ~1.5L.

For the record she holds the 1000m record at Flemington, with her comeback in February this year in the Lightning. She beat Special's long standing record of 55.5sec clocking 55.42secs.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
