Turnovers ,missed tackles ,fumbles etc .Same old.

I did not watch swans game (thankfully as it turns out) but prior to that I thought morton was doing ok and improving nicely? Can someone tell me why he was dropped from last week's performance?

It was Morton circa 2010-2011 i.e. lack of intensity, soft, poor disposal. Disappointing really given that he played a couple of good games a few weeks back.

it's why he was dropped, one player that is made to go back, work on something and come back when he's showed he's worked on it. morton wont be a game changer, but he'll be a good player in a good team. gilbee like.

Game plan doesn't suit him at all, so it's gonna take the bloke a fair while to find a role I'd have thought.

His development over five years in these 2 areas has not improved & he continues to turn over the ball with no pressure. Imagine as a fwd getting passes like that after you busted your gut to get into position!

Question is to the recruiters why were these flaws not identified????

Speak for yourself. I was once a hater, but I'm willing to accept the good things I see in Morton. Nowadays, I'd have to say I'm a fan.

If our senior players worked as hard to get the footy as Cale we would be far better off.

Have a go at them, not this kid trying to salvage his career.

Have a go at the bloody club for their dismal effort in developing him.

He's not at fault for the appalling lack of resources put into developing our young players during the majority of his time at the club.

Who cares where he was taken. His commitment to the contest is lacking. His decision making is prone to massive lapses. He consistently plays off his player. His second efforts are almost non-existent. Posters point to his supposed elite skills but I just don't see them. I don't get the love for this guy. Give me a Couch/Magner/Jones anyday that will bleed for the team.

Cale wasn't bad actually, he did alot more right then wrong.

His only real stuff up was that one kick that resulted in a collingwood goal. (yes, a very big stuff up)

However when he came back on he made a goal saving sprint to put pressure on Jamie Elliot.

He has really improved his intensity from years beofre and I think we should continue to show faith in him, he is working his ass off and I think that if he grows in confidence he could be a solid contributer.

He could just as easily be traded.. Now some will arc up with...for what value,might as well keep him. He either has any value or he doesnt. He might well be more suited to another clubs forward vision than ours.

Dont assume he naturally will remain at Melbourne. All jobs in red and blue are now to be earnt. Thats the Neeld doctrine.

Wow. I have now heard everything. Cale is great because he ranks number 5 for disposals. Thanks for that intelligent assessment Mrs Morton. How about how many times he turns it over? How about the fact he never picks up a player and he has no defensive skills? None of the things you see in Jones apply to Cale. Sheesh. Its school holidays again..

The only positive about Morton is that we actually won the deal with west coast with Chris Masten. What an ordinary footballer! Shows what a difference it makes playing in a winning team

Oh FCS gen-not-my-fault-blame-someone-else-Y -- of course he has to take most of the responsibility for his not progressing; sure maybe not all but it is HE who goes out onto the field, not BP, Bailey, Neeld or Missen. It is HE who decides whether to jump into the contest or hang around outside the pack and hope.... It is HE who despite the much vaunted "silky skills" shanks and turns the ball over.
