The New Sponsors

I agree that we need more presence in the city. A Melbourne-based sports team based right in front of tourists would be a gimmick, I am sure some people would get the urge to buy something official of the city as opposed to some cheap Asian merchandise from Swantson street.

But just to make a presence anyway. The population in the CBD is growing, and so is foot traffic. We are Melbourne. I really have never understood why we don't have a presence in the CBD.

Oh, and Canberra in the NRL just signed a $1.7 million sponsorship deal with a Chinese company. I look forward to Schwaby's return to the forums.

Seriously, if anyone uses the "gfc" argument again...

With all due respect, C420, it's $850k p.a. for two years.

If that's what's on offer - they can't afford us.

The Raiders are on a different playing field to the MFC.

Huawei just got into Canberra on the cheap. That's all.

On a side note, as it looks like we won't have a second major sponsor heading into the season, does anyone know if the limited edition Reach guernseys will become a little less limited? Are there any plans to sell another batch?

I'd really like to get my hands on at least one with Jim's number.

I thought the same thing. I jumped onto the website to order one yesterday and looks like they've all gone.

So you think sponsorship investment in a football team during these tough times where the investment doesnt provide a suitable is a non argument ?

I've looked several times and can't seem to find them. They advertise that they are available, but are nowhere to be found.

Is Bill Gates screwing with my head again?

Again....that's what I found. I went onto the website to order one, but it seems as though after you click on the link - it takes you to the general shop page rather than to the order page like it did previously.

CS really has his work cut out for him now. Imagine trying to attract a sponsor after such a performance.

With more performances like that we'll be splashed all over the papers, tv etc. That's great coverage for a sponsor.

Sponsors dont care about on field performance, thye care about their exposure.

And about 6 articles in the papers ect would suggest that is high imo

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
