The New Sponsors

Featured Replies

I may have stumbled across something online just now and from what i saw, i am very confident that Starwood are the front runner. I won't say anymore as i don't want to ruin any announcement from the club (and no i don't have any inside knowledge) but if Starwood (or one of its brands) are our sponsor it will be massive for the exposure of their brand here and our brand not only in China but also Asia.

Cool. Airline or Hotel chain, it is all exposure to the tourist $$ both ways.

Fingers crossed it's Starwood, and not just because I want a discount at my favourite hotel in KL, which is a Starwood hotel B)

Good Hotels?? What rating are they overall..

Just as a footnote, I felt bad as a Melbourne supporter in Kmart the other day, where the other nine Vic teams' jumpers were all on show, but no MFC.

It would be great to have the new jumper but I don't expect it to be announced this week cant see a big loss and Jurrah's situation causing a potential sponsor to salivate.

they're building a hotel in the province that schwab was looking at as a centre for high altitude training.

the announcement will come when it comes.

hopefully both the dees and port will announce before round 1, or potentially before this week seeing as we're playing one another.

Starwood are a New York based hotel management company. They own the brands St Regis, Luxury Collection, Westin, W, Le Meridian, Sheraton to name a few. They don't own the real estate though - they manage the hotel operations on behalf of the hotel owners/developers.

Starwood are very significant in North America, Europe and Asia and have been opening 20+ hotels in China each year over the last couple of years. I think each and every province in China already or will have a Starwood Hotel opening soon.

I doubt however that they would be looking to sponsor a team in Melbourne as they already have a strong market presence in Australia.

There is one connection I can see with Schwab and Starwood - the team stayed at the Westin in Beijing & Le Meridian in Shanghai while on the exhibition game trip a couple of years ago.

That is not new Striker even when we have a jumper they usually care only a couple in stock.

Not enough Dees supporters out there to worry about lost sales.

Hard to see a sponsor jumping on after last night performance.

Perhaps we should offer Kaspersky a discount to get them back

Old Dee we lost a game, what do you want to do slash your wrists, do you think last nights effort means all the work the club has out in both on and off the field since the end of last season is now undone. Anyone who thinks this is going to be a smooth ride from the time Neeld was announced is sorely mistaken. We will get there but be prepared for some turbulence on the way!. Keep your chin up Old

I reckon Garry Lyon might have learned a trick or 2 off his old mate Eddie and pulled some strings so he can announce the new sponsor on the footy show.

I was at Kmart airport west shopping centre last year and was looking through the footy gear and found no Melbourne gear at all. I asked the check out chick why wasn't there any melbourne gear and she said It's Kmart policy to only stock the teams to the nearest location of the store. Airport West is in bloody Tullamarine if some of you guys aren't familiar it couldn't be much closer to Melbourne. I think the Administration needs to find out why we can't promote our club by having Melbourne gear everywhere. It's a wonder everyone jumps on board the big teams they have crap plastered everywhere.

My chin has been up for nearly 50 years PSD.

My neck is beginning to feel the strain.

I have said elsewhere this is the same basic lot as 2011 they are not up to it.

Get used to that result there are a lot more of them to come.

Mate I live out that way there is always Essendon and Footscray stuff everywhere.

Local Shopping centre has a Foxtel store with signs everywhere about following the dogs.

That is why we are trying to make a name in Casey.

Where is the MFC area?

There is none.

I am confident you will not find MFC in any quantity in any surburb in Melbourne.

And try country areas!

There is only one way to fix this, start beating Hawthorn and the like.

What kid would want to wear an MFC jumber around his neighbourhood.

We'll I'm sorry my friend, can't help you there, mark my wors we are better than 2011, there will be setbacks but we will move forward not as much as some would like but we will take some steps

The only benefit I got from this was a recent trip to Bali with Hawkers wanting to get me and the kids in to buy some AFL gear, I figured out fairly quick the Dees weren't high on their list of items to sell, so it helped me get rid of the Hawkers fairly quickly (Tongue in Cheek) Seriously though I believe this is why the Casey move will be significant

Actions speak louder than words.

I will believe it when it happens.

Unfortunately for me i have seen way too many false dawns.

Come on guys the ONLY place to buy MFC gear is from our own shop at the MCG.(refer MFC website to view.)

That's a good point JCB.

At least we know that nearly all of the profits go back to the club that way.

My kids would.

God love them are a rare breed.

I doubt there is one within 10 ks of my house.

I have brainwashed the hell out of them. Sometimes it did include fudging the scores a little bit when I would get home from the G. A 6 year old and a 2 year old don't really understand rebuilding phases and a developing list.

God love them are a rare breed.

Sometimes too you can't win

The only people i dislike in my street happen to be the only other Dee's supporters in the street

And they live dead opposite

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
