Scott Pendlebury

Tom $cully is GONE anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid, MFC would have offered $cully a very good contract prob somewhere between $600k -700k a year which im sure we can all agree is WAY! to much, that money plus some more (warnock, bate, dunn will prob want to leave for more opportunity) will free up a little more $$$ to attract Scott Pendlebury on a close to a million dollar a year deal post season 2012, he is way beter than $cully still young and would be the icing on the cake to our midfeild which would add young viney to that list at the end of next year. MFC need to attract a big name to the club it would do wonders for membership and supporter confidence.

We need a big name coach and a big name signing in the next year or two, something this club has needed for a long time imo

Agreed. This is where we should get Our Heads off Business people to Talk 'thanks giving' to his people... a veritable Feast.

Forget it re Pendelbury. He will be firmly in GW$'s gunsights and they will offer him a mil and a half.

If he's available, Demetriou will ensure that they get him. He will not let GW$ fail. Simple as that.

I believe that Scully will be better than Pendlebury. There is no evidence to suggest that he wont be. Losing Scully is devastating but I guess at least i have a viable excuse for the next 10 years to my mates whenever we lose a game. Carlton without Murphy, Collingwood without Thomas, Hawthorn without buddy, Melbourne without Scully. Huge loss with stuff all compensation.

LOL. There is no evidence to suggest that he will be either.

The names you mentioned are game winners and doing it presently. Scully is a second year player with great endurance but a banged up body.

We will get adequate compensation for him so you don't have to be too dramatic :P

That's not what's being touted at the moment. Unless something changes and we manage to squeal our way up to a more appropriate pick 1 as compensation, picks 12 and 28 or whatever we get does not nearly equate to pick 1. It's the old 60 cents plus 40 cents equals a dollar. If that was the case, Michael Newton (10c), Matthew Bate (30c) and Cale Morton (70c) could be bundled off to Carlton for Chris Judd ($1).

If and when Scully leaves, serious attention has to turn to arguing for the best compensation possible, and two mid-late first round picks is absolute tripe.

c'mon tom, overly drawn-out departure. we want to get our club back in the game. we got five million off our back, you got six million in your back pocket.

A lot quicker and harder at the ball than Pendlebury. That's been proven.

Pendlebury is a better kick at the moment. Hardly a banged up body. He still played all of season 1 and half of season 2.

Fair analogy, at 70c Morton's probably a bit pricey though. Especially if Judd is at $1

This may sound silly but I don't care what number a kid is taken at, as Mr Sully has proven, you aren't guaranteed class with a top pick- I care that he is dedicated to winning a flag with us and is true to the course. Of course he has to be able to bloody play as well but you get my point.

If we can ontrade these compo picks for a mature aged whatever the hell will come to us player than I would prefer that

Doesn't he have the same injury as Cooney? How's that working out for him?

Big statement.

Pendlebury is in the Judd and Ablett tier. The latter two at their best impact games more but Pendlebury is more skilled all-round and is way more consistent, I reckon.

Scully will be one of the best players in a few years, but Pendles is something else.

Yep, he's a superstar. Think GWS would get him first though.

He might not want to leave for Sydney, might want to stay in Melbourne and stay with Lyon (maybe)

I hate Goddard, he comes across as an utter [censored], but if he played for Melbourne he would be a good guy!

Sorry - I lost patience with my own analogy there! A bit steep in retrospect.

I do think it's super important we're compensated with a top draft pick. While you're never absolutely guaranteed to find a superstar right at the top of the draft, you give yourself the best possible chance. It wouldn't be such a bad offseason if we ended up with compensation that would afford us this opportunity, plus the signing of Malthouse or Lyon as coach!

... and a Melbourne supporter when growing up. Haha. Mind you, if we are gonna throw that coin around I would rather give it to another Melbourne supporter in his youth:

LANCE FRANKLIN

Pendlebury will go to GWS for 1.2 million in 2013

You didn't hear this off your best friend who is a neighbour of a GWS official did you?

So they've got millions to throw at Hurley, Pendelbury, Goddard and any other top name coming out of contract end of next year? Where does the money well end?

As I understand they can't poach another one of us right? It's one OOC only or each year?

Let the [censored] games begin!

Yeah, I'm not out there checking out their personalities! Goddard was a Carlton supporter, enough said.

But his performance together with Lenny Hayes in the drawn grand final is something I'll take with me to the grave. That mark should've capped it and set him up alongisde Jezza among iconic images. Pity it didn't play out to script. He's an out-and-out champion nonetheless. He's already indicated he'd be open to an offer from GWS.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
