In terms of sweeteners Spencer is a QLD boy, recruited from Redlands and will help out as a back up ruck for Brisbane And dispite what people here may think, in the last 1 months prior to his injury Spencer had made huge ground imo, i was looking forward to seeing him whe nJamar went down personally, He makes ense not saying he is an amazing sweetener but fits the bill non the less

I was thinking about Spencer as well... just wasn't sure if Spencer and Leuenberger are too similar in how they play..... Martin and Clark are different players to Leuenberger and offer something else.

Hi Billy, sorry probably didn't need that targetted at you, probably a more general comment at those saying Clark has done nothing to this point in his career as a forward...

No problems, but I stand by the 2nd part of my sentence. Just listen to see what Brisbane want for him. Offer him Pick 12, because they have given every indication that a pick that high would be sufficient. If they reject it, then we need to look at the sweetener. As Jordie Tackles stated, Spencer is a Qld boy, and would be a better trade for us if he wasn't on our list.

Simma - that year he played ruck was because the Lions had no-one else standing and he had to do it.

Believe me, he's a better full forward than ruckman.

Can't agree at all. He was almost an All Australian as a Ruckman. He's got nowhere near being AA as a forward.

Take a look for yourself, then compare that to what Martin has done. Clark has done more than a lot of talls have done at his age. 80 odd games is about when these players start hitting their prime. Seriously good player.

-Lions leading goalkicker award 11, Brown injured

-most courageous player 09,

-3rd in club championship 09 10???? 11????

I said earlier 09 was his breakout year, playing in the ruck, hasnt done so as much since Leunbergers return and his form has dipped as a result

He will be a good player, as long as we dont pay to much, and im not convinced he is a pure forward as some people hope he is

Also how much of an improvement on Martin is he? yes he will be a better forward, Ruck i dont know, around the ground not as good, down back not as good

I see him being the swing ruckman, so needs to be versatile, one thing the Martin is very much,

As is obvious i dont know if im here or there on this one, will depend on the price to weather i like it basically

But that is clearly his best season, the one in the ruck, seems thats where he plays best, even if he wants to be a forward?

Leading goal kicker this year, has kicked bags of 5 and is 23 yrs old.

When was the last time you saw him play?

I've seen enough of Spencer to know he is clearly not up to it. Watching him trying to kick a football is an embarrassing sight.

So not recently its fair to say?

Cox and Sandi looked like [censored] when young, not that he is anywhere near this league just a comparison

In 2009 when he was basically the only ruckman that Brisbane had. Played a great season and nearly made AA. Some would say that 2009 was his break-out year, as prior to that he had Brown and Bradshaw to compete against for a forward role.

In 2011* he won the Lions goal kicking, not that much of a big deal I admit, when he finally got the chance to be one of the main targets up forward. Plus, he missed about 6 games this year due to injury I believe.

Regardless of where he plays next season, I believe he has developed into a very handy Full Forward, and if it happened to be at Melbourne, would be given the opportunity to concentrate on that one position as Jamar is our Number 1 ruck.

We share different opinions, I can't speak for you, but I watch a lot of Brisbane games, with a lot of time watching Clark in particular. At the end of 2008 he was talked out of giving the game up (this is from his own mouth), so I have watched him closely ever since. He is a Full Forward that can ruck. He is not a ruckman who can play forward.

Edit - He won the goal kicking in 2011, not 2010. In 2010 he had to play ruck again as Charman was injured for the year. His best game for the season was when he played forward and kicked 5 goals.

Kicking 24 or so as the number 1 forward, green kicked 37 in a "bad year"

melbourne had a couple of big 80+ point wins...can't remember brisbane having that many. and those games are where Green 'cashed in' on his 37.

clark with delivery to our forward line with jurrah, watts, howe, will be beautiful.

in a team that only won 4 games, and without a lot of support. Yeah it's not a lot of goals, but I'd like to see goal assists with him bringing the ball to ground as well.

You started this rot with wanting to trade Martin. Touche.

Hey, I never once stated we should trade Martin. In fact I went as far to say that Martin should not be part of this Clark deal. I rate Martin very highly. Get your facts straight before you start shooting off....

Yes these are all factors, trying to play devils advocate a bit guys, everyone seems to be on the Clarke love bandwagon

Clarke has potential, and with better supply and more games, he only played 17 would kick above 30 really,

I still think he played his best football in the ruck, which is why im caught up on him not being the forward line option we all crave

I said earlier i liked what i saw in Spencer and " was looking forward to seeing him play when Jamar went down". His kicking is better not great imo.

What was better was his marking, he is a HUGE kid now, took alot of marks and seemed like a target for Casey, looked ALOT better than Gawn on the day i saw him.

203cm 105kg seems pretty un pencil like to me

I saw improvement, i also said he isnt a world better or anything but is from QLD, is getting quite large and improving and Brisbane need a backup ruck option

Leunberger is the Ruck like Jamar compare them, people are talking about Clark as a forward so lets treat him that way?

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
