Guess the Crowd

Featured Replies

Fans will be allowed onto the MCG arena after this Sunday’s game against Gold Coast, as a way of thanking us supporters this year.

Will this be enough to bring in the crowd? The weather looks like it will be favourable.

I’m predicting 16,500 (I was going to say 15,000)

14,500. Pathetic, like always.

I wish the only thing I got embarrassed about at games as our team's performance, but sadly no, the lack of supporters is just as bad.

Even nostradamus couldn't pick what our weird, retro and eclectic bunch of supporters will bring this week ... Thats what we should love bout our supporter base. What other club can claim variety?? Were all fickle to some extent, & as a loyal fan, member, etc, etc, even I've been battered and bruised this yr but am ready to face the music again and miss another bumper ski season.

I look forward to being branded "fair weather-bandwagon jumper" in a few years time.

I wouldn't be surprised if 20,000.

trumpeteer?

Not enough to break even I'm afaird. 15,000ish if we're lucky. Probably closer to 12 or 13.

Considering that the Chinese AFL team will be there and some more International Teams i think that 15-20k is achievable at best. A nice surplus is always welcome.

17500, the extra 2.5k as a combination of a (presumed) easy win and it being the last home game of the year.

Not quite sure Jaded why you are so upset.

Crowd support is always determined by how a team is travelling.

It is not peculiar to the Dees.

When you have had the season we have had particularly the last 5 weeks I am not surprised at all.

I am an addict and I considered if I would go on Sunday.

The prospect of being beaten by GC is a real possibility.

Add to that all the negative stuff of the last month

and getting beaten last week by the tigers.

All adds up to a crap end of season.

I have 2 member friends who have tossed it in for 2011.

I will be going on my own this week.

I don't blame them our team stinks at present

This may be their only way of expressing their displeasure.

I think 18915

Because we're due for a win, and it's the last 'G game for the season.

21,435...

Hoping for a win, will be my last game for a long time. Moving to Canada so will definately try to snag a few on the ground afterwards. Bringing a few mates for my going away drinks!

My last game for a while too. Getting moved for work in November.

If I could pack the 'G I would...

We will get no more than 18,000. Too many fickle supporters. Thick and thin comes to mind.

I'm going but really...it's pretty damn tough to even get mildly excited in these last few games. At least there's a couple of new players to watch.

I can't blame people for not showing up this year. Even these 'sure things' are likely to be a nail-biting disaster that can ruin your week.

Least inspiring season I can remember in my 32 years. ...and watching Collingwood wipe the floor with Freo tonight, I just can't imagine anyone in this current crop getting us anywhere near that level of footy. Even their first year player Fasolo is turning out to be better than 90% of our team... What the hell! How does that happen?

We'll be lucky to get this number - but I'm going with 17,560.

Warm weather, fine conditions with Newbies we've all been waiting to see?

19,602. + - :)

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
