From the sound of it Kaspersky are now "moving on" to NRL to promote their brand in NSW.

Not sure you are right there.

Kasperksy have been on the record saying how much the sponsorship of MFC has lifted brand recognition. Basically from not being on the radar at all, into the top few IT security providers.

What they want to do is to build recognition in the same way in Sydney hence their sponsorship of Manly. It would be (I imagine) a short sighted move to not maintain their brand equity here by cancelling a sponsorship that has worked really well for them. I would think they will look at sports sponsorships across each of the states to give them a similar recognition. I found this..

The article touting a $1.9mil per year sponsorship said that both Kaspersky and Hankook deals expire this year.

It was implied without really being said that Kaspersky wouldn't renew.

I imagine if the price is rising so significantly, they could easily be priced out of the market.

Who knows.

You realise BOM is Westpac :)

According to an article in the Herald Sun, it is believed The Bank of Melbourne are our new sponsors.

Over at 'Ology a poster is reporting that the BOM lost out to a Korean company.

Big, big deal!!!

It is a done deal folks. I work for BoM and it looks like a good arrangement for both parties.

FYI BoM is not Westpac Bank. Westpac Banking Corporation owns Westpac Bank and BoM. They are separate banks.

Kaspersky is sponsoring a RL team in Sydney. Given they got to No 2 in teh Virus protection space in Victoria you would have to say the sponsorship worked well for them.

Hankook appears to be a case of being treated badly from what I have heard but cannot confirm.

According to a post on 'ology someone who's missus works at BoM claims that they have missed out on the gig to a Korean company. $1.9m pa.

I imagine it will be revealed at tonights Foundation Heroes dinner.

I could go with the line that a few of our players have earned the right to have the words "Energy Watch" on their jumpers but I won't

This could be excellent and to enhance it we could gain Energiser as our Shorts sponsor--make the emblem near the backside of the shorts itself..

You come out now.

and take of that stupid hat!

thanks..

but i really like the hat

I wonder if anything wil be announced at teh dinner tonight..yo know...like, all hush hush , nudge nudge stuff ..;)

Well it was supposed to be this week and it is wednesday night so maybe.

Sorry to be a sceptic but I will believe it when I hear it officially.

Given that a little more thought.

Would they not want to announce it with the sponser present and make the evening news.

More exposure?

At 1.9m a year and with both current sponsorships expiring, surely we would just find room for both the korean company and bom as the two to replace current ones? Would it have to be either seeing as we currently have two major sponsors (albeit at much lower rates).

Just a guess....

An article in the age today talks about Kia trying to move in a new direction and take on Mercedes.

Kia flies the coupe

Kia chief designer Peter Schreyer formerly worked with Audi and penned the timeless TT coupe. He is clearly having a lot of fun re-inventing a formerly stodgy, staid and budget-focused brand into something with genuine desirability

''I believe the car is a strong statement from Kia: We are ready to fast forward to an all-new chapter," According to Kia Australia boss.

So if Kia is looking for the right demographic to try and associate with, perhaps they will sponsor Melbourne.

And I for one would not dare critisise them for trying if they are going to give us 1.8 million per year.

Not sure who the sponsor is, but can confirm that the position on the back of the jumper for a sponsor logo has been sold for $1.9m. Still searching for a sponsor for the front of the jumper. Gives the club around $1.2m more a year to spend on FD etc.
