Would like to see Beamer as Captain next year.

You only have to watch him at training. He never shuts up and backs all the boys 100%. The only problem was his late night antics earlier in the year.

Would be a strong alternative to Green on the field. Trenners is too young and is still developing his game.

I've been saying all year that Green isn't captain material, but sadly he was the best option at the time.

Next year I would take a punt and give the captaincy to one of the kids who will lead the club for the next 10 years. Why not offer it to Scully if he wants to continue, or more realistically give it to somebody like Trengove?

Read this in the Age today, quoted to Brad Green in regards to Dean Bailey.

"I totally feel sorry for the guy, the playing group loved him, he's a great man. But them's the breaks when you're out of contract and you get done by 32 goals."

The quicker he is no longer captain the better.

Not a fan of Brad'd captaincy, but i don't crucify him for those words on Dean Bailey...it was a tough week for us all.

One can easily see he is not a natural, either is Davey---Rivers seems to have stood up well along with Beamer & Jones.

Feel bad for greeny, he seems not mentally tough right now, i think he should change his role again to a midfield-forward, although in the same article he confirm there was a meeeting but they doesn't seems to have a friction with Schwab and Connolly.

It's going to hurt and some players won't like it - but we have got to move past Brad as a leader.

I feel for the bloke, I do.

FFS, Other that the 1st 5-6 weeks our mids have been horrible. Has anyone here played forward with bad delivery?? Before you all jump up and down yes there have been instances which are cringeworthy, they have always been in his game but just stand out alot more now that we are looking for a scapegoat.

I agree his form is all over the place but we have no idea what he is doing around the club. The way all the players seem to be sticking together he must be doing something right.

Whenever Green comes up the ground to get a bit more involved in the play, he looks pedestrian.

Unless he's being spoonfed the ball, he's largely ineffectual.

And to boot, when he's finally got his hands on the footy, he hasn't been able to convert.

His leadership has been poor and he doesn't do the captaincy justice, but that is a different issue.

I really think his career is coming to a close.

Nah if they give Green the boot I'll be severely dissapointed. Strip him the captaincy sure, but give him another year. Look how Sam Mitchell has responded when Hodge took over, it would give Greeny a bit of much needed fire.

I was a pretty decent player, a really hard defender who could be counted on in a pinch, and had a fair bit of respect in the team. Unfortunately, we discovered that I reacted very badly to having a formal leadership role. All of a sudden I was paying too much attention to what everyone else in the team was doing and not focusing on my own game. I couldn't get my head around the notion that 99% of the time I could trust my teammates to know their jobs and all I really needed to do during a game was keep the talk going, have the odd chat to the ref and otherwise play exactly as I had every year leading up to this one. The obvious result of this is that my form dropped off, I lost the respect of my teammates, and spent the end of the season in the B's. Not what I'd call a good result.

The point I'm making here is that some people are not cut out to be captains, however good they are as leaders. Sometimes the addition of a title makes you forget everything you did to earn it and you suddenly find your game going out the window. I think this is what's happened to Brad. It isn't a reflection on his ability as a player, and I don't think he is even close to finished in the game. He needs to either get his head around the role he's playing or accept that he can be a leader, and even a member of the leadership group, but the captaincy may be a little beyond him.

Good points Ralph...i really think Green is trying too hard, and the harder he tries the further into the abyss.

He also talked about it being hard to find form when you are playing forward in a losing team . I can remember him playing some defensive roles for us as a tagger or loose backman .From memory he was good out of half back .Why not let him get a kick for a while?It cant hurt .
