Yesterday morning the last thing I was thinking about was finals, but it could actually happen now:

It is well known that a new coach usually starts with a win. A win this saturday against Carlton and we are back on the mix. A winnable game against WCE in Melbourne followed by 3 games we will be favourites for against Port, Gold Coast, and Richmond. All of a sudden we are back on track.

Am I crazy?

We are Melbourne supporters. We all fantasise. I'm sure this is on the back of every supporters mind. Not many will admit it yet.

Saw that, we're virtually going to fall in and get smacked by WCE based on that

Or meet and Carlton and continue their streak of being knocked out in the first week....

OK I think we all need to take a deep breath now.....yes I would love a win but realistically, I will give you six or seven words that are reasons we will probably not win....

Judd, Murphy, Scotland, Gibbs, Walker, Betts, Simpson..all in top form..plus a few others.

Yes we will play better, yes we will defend with our lives, yes we may be still be in it in the last quarter.....but we have sacked the coach, we have not suddenly acquired two or three players with the experience or skill to take the game by the scruff of the neck......

also we will only have to stuff up a couple of stoppages and let Betts, Judd or Murphy goal side and we will find ourselves four or five goals down

Best of luck to Todd Viney but personally I am going to expect us to have a bloody good crack, anything else will be a bonus

We have to aim for it and not give up. Dare to dream!!!

We have to go out to win every week. No reason why we can't. But do I think we will no way in hell but I will still be there every week!

Lets pause, if we do pull off an unlikley win against Carlton and i emphasise IF, then and only then can we talk about finals. I think the footy club has bigger issues to deal with and making the finals this year although it would be nice should not be in the forefront of our minds. Saying that if we beat Calton this week it wont take long for this Demon supporter to get just a touch excited.

Can anyone actually confidently predict us to beat Rich, GC and Port?

Current form suggests the biggest danger game is actually GC

Richmond yes - no Newman anymore

Port yes - headless chickens have more coherence

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
