That's all true Redleg, but I recall very similar sentiments about this year's Trade Week. That unexpectedly captured every Dees supporter's attention late in the piece.

We shall speak thursday night next week and see if we have anything to talk about.

Given that the T$ thread has resumed in a slightly different guise, I thought I should mention that I had my first banana split since the end of the footy season last night. Banana (obviously), fresh passionfruit, crushed nuts and lashings of whipped cream. Delicious, but not great for the waist-line I guess. When I told my lovely wife that it reminded me of Demonland, it confirmed in her mind that I've completely lost it. Some people just don't understand!

Did you share some with your wife or devour it all yourself.

Well, I was a late starter. I'm about to hit the big 60 in March and have two kids aged 9 and 12... so no grand kids here (although I tell my kids how lucky they are having a dad and a grandad all in the one person). Oh, and both boys follow the Dees, with a leaning to the Swans, being in Sydney; I've told them there will only be an issue if they start to get interested in GWS.

I hit the big 60 in February but as a leap year baby it will be my 15th birthday. I have 2 kids 31 and 29 ( Scoop Junior) and 1 grandchild 23 months. Hoping for many more little demons.

Would that make you "Scoop"?

That is my real nickname which I have had for about 40 years. I adopted Redleg when I first came on Demonland as my son had used Scoop Junior for his demonland name. Therefore i am only Redleg on here. There are those that only use my nickname when speaking to me, such as WJ and Mrs. WJ.

Interesting, I'd always wondered whether your nickname may've been Scoop based on SJ's alias. I reckon having Scoop and Scoop Junior on Demonland would've been a nice touch, personally.

I always assumed your nickname was just the a result of an unfortunate encounter with a jellyfish of some kind.

Glad it didn't sting the shorter leg.

Welcome to Demonland Scoop!

My statts read fairly similar Redleg but i am a bit older.

Ya goda luv em!

Mrs Dof had the banana and passionfruit portion but declined the whipped cream and crushed nuts. She has far more self-control than I do.

You are very observant "mollydee"

did not notice.

Glad i have won something this week.

i seem to be fighting a losing battle with Computers and software.

I am about to throw the whole thing off the westgate.

That is if I can get high enough to clear the new fence

Yes -- it slipped under Redleg's guard !

Was just listening, and pondering how good it would be if our bloke became an all time classic like this one. No chance I guess, but the off season is time for dreaming.

But only three will be drafted in seven day's time.

talking of rookie draft, Jack do you know what our pick numbers are?

Don't know the rules but I haven't heard of any concessions to GWS in the rookie draft so it's probably 1. GWS 2. Gold Coast ... etc then in order of how the clubs finished from bottom up.

No, I am sure GWS get the first few rookies as well.

I suppose that's because they are a bit short on youth, eh?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
