Just got back from a week in the bush, out of mobile range and definately no computer access (didn't even know who won the Cup until this morning). I can't believe how I missed Demonland and how much reading I have to do to catch up on all things 'Melbourne' and all things T$ No B$. Congrats on passing the 1000 mark Redleg.

Other than the continued T$/GWS and DB threads and a bit of the Sylvia thread you haven't really missed much. Yes, the Cup has gone been won by the French again, Black Caviar has made it 16 from 16 starts and Banana prices are dropping. And there's training this morning with what should be a fuller squad at 10am. Welcome back.

2011 has finally started to show a good side to me.

Went to the Basketball last night.

The Tigers are coming together beautifully.

5 wins from 6 games, it is not hard to see why patrick mills is in the NBA ( when they are playing )

The guy is brilliant.

Such a contrast to the Dees, most of the team have only been playing together 10 weeks

and they are already looking good.

As well i don't have to wait 3 years till they develop ( I know it is a different situation. )

Finally something with "Melbourne" in it that is doing well.

Roll on summer 2011 /2

Well 16 days and counting.

Draft comment: Would love to see Demetriou present the jumper to the number 1 draft pick, who says how excited he is to be at GWS and hopes to be there for life, with the camera then flashing to a picture of "you know who" in his GWS jumper.

Draft Comment: Will we see the 2 boys picked by Port and Lions in the first round in amongst all the early GWS picks, scream with delight, when they realise they don't have to play with GWS?

I doubt whether there are going to be any squeals of delight from the poor kid who has to go to Port Adelaide. That's like going to Blacktown but you get to wear designer moccasins.

BTW what time zone are you in. By me, it's 16 days to go.

It's my birthday and on this joyous occasion I bought myself some bananas. You may think I jest but Safeway 5.79 a kg says why the bloody hell not to me! :)

Funny that we are back on the bananas as I just had one with ice cream while watching Seinfeld.

That is a utopian moment you must celebrate, similiar in the way Jerry celebrates a good parking Spot!!

Listening to Instant Replay by Dan Hartman.

That is definately not utopian!!!

And for some more disco Bee Gees - Love You Inside Out.

I am one of the few who admit to loving disco.

The chains are on the car ready to go and hopefully our maid has given our Hotham chalet a clean-up prior to our arrival tomorrow.

Our son Ben is bringing up a few of his Xavier College mates. Next week it's Becky and her group from Lauriston.

I missed the season here last year as we decided to head over to Banff in Canada. Just couldn't stand to be in town while the Dees were losing.

Old chap - can't have been much snow at Banff during our footy season, what oh? Still, I guess one can just hang out with some of the chaps from school, or maybe from the city, and have a few cocktails, or do a bit of work for the old man, what?

And old chap - better keep a bit of an eye on those Xavier chaps - they are gaining a bit of a reputation for getting a bit out of hand at times - and most of them are Catholics, what!

And for some more disco Bee Gees - Love You Inside Out.

I am one of the few who admit to loving disco.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
