I only want news of injury recoveries and no new ones.

We start the season with several injuries as usual.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is it just me or does there seem to be a big influx of new arrivals here at DL?

Good to see.

We are full of vim and vigor! Overflowing with Elan!

Or maybe it is time to go hard;

"We have great confidence in our prospects for the coming season, and I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Gawn when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Twin girls, one with very prominent Bristols, almost staying within a very lovely gown,  and its all in duplicate.

Some very canny advertising,  nothing totally outside any rules,  but like the show Saturday night Live said

very interesting

Righteo then.

Nothing to see here folks.

Being British and all. What what.

Can we try a Although come to sub thread of Rhyming slang here?

Cockney Slang like Bristol cities can also be included.

But I'm very interested in Australian ones.

JimmyGrant ( immigrant) apparently gets the nod for one of the first ones recorded.

Australian idioms and sayings like as Happy as Larry will be permitted if they are explained.

Interesting the origins of who Larry was are somewhat obscure. Some believe he was a boxer.

Although if I met someone who spoke not stop RS, I'd be inclined to kill them.

I wonder if people realise the ads they see...if they see them are tailored to them. They are a result of algorithms based upon the individuals search and pages read.

I'll leave it at that....

Keeping in mind this thread prohibits B$   .. I'm detecting the 'aroma' of the Elephant variety these days..    more and more.

I was wondering.  And I was always very good at mathematics. Algorithms have a lot to answer for.   Still.  A healthy mind in a not so healthy body. And the ads do bring a smile to my face.  I will just put up with it.

the latest is very quick, moves st quite a pace,

I have never searched morning sickness meds, acne creams, incontinence pads, teens jewelry, or hotels in zurich to name a few

I'll leave it at that

Now I had a set like that,  later on a green book by Chambers,     Long time ago,  then we got a electric multiplier with built in Sin, cos and tangent.  Now that was the bees knees.  The very latest in 1967

Mine was green, too, 640, but the internet was wanting. I think the 'buff' immediately predated ours.

Trying to take my mind off all things Dees, I just bought the magic, bread fresh container from Global Direct.

I am looking forward to eating bread that is not covered in mould.

Just wait 3 days. Better than waiting 3 weeks.  Or a McDonald’s burger 3 years or more !

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
