Well 2019 has closed and we are once again looking up from the bottom. Having got that negativity out of the road I am staggered at the amount of poor / pointless rubbish on Demonland at present. We have thread after thread of negative crap the majority of which has little if any grounding in fact. I feel this thread will once again be the only one worth reading.

Bananas are good at the moment, just had a banana and peanut butter sandwich for lunch.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Though that LBW appeal by Lyon in the dying stages was as plum as they get

It was and only MFC type luck, they used the last review on a certain failure. Captain admitted Cummings told him not to review, as it was a certain not out.

And Lyon misses a stumping he wouldn't have missed since he was in kinder, with Leach half way down the pitch, trying to get back.

I'm not a big fan of the 2 reviews each per innings. If it's a howler, it should be corrected, regardless. And don't get me started about how the umpires stupidity won the one day World Cup for England.

But yes, we had many chances. I like Tim Paine, but his lack of experience shows.

BBO assured me we couldn't possibly lose at start of play yesterday...

He is a drunk, what would he know? He should stick to self flagellation in his dungeon at the Manor.

I hope the injuries don't affect our game next week.

Who are we playing in our first final?

I have worked long and hard to reach the peak of this honourable profession Red - I would appreciate you not commenting on it in a disparaging manner.

As to your vulgar suggestion as to how I should spend my (not drinking) time. I'll have you know that it is the maid who benefits from my considerable flagellating skills!

As a Dees supporter, I appreciate the benefits of a drink or two.

I am so disillusioned with footy and our season, I have already stopped taping the 2 sunday morning footy shows.

Still taping the rest during the week, in the hope there is a good trade rumour for us.

Mr Leg I fear you have slipped into a serious case of depression and a visit to a specialist is now over due.

As for watching " tv footy shows" I fear that maybe your biggest problem.

You must believe they will offer words of wisdom or similar.

Sadly I have to advise you that they probably the root cause of your depression.

i have two suggestions that I believe will help.

(1) do not watch TV footy shows.

(2) Aquire a taste for good single malt, It will help to get you through the bad days.

Pigs fly

Depends on how many scotches you (or they) have had.

After a few more, elephants fly as well.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
