Not sure who wrote the article comparing Dustin Martin, Cotchin and Vickery to Scully, Trengove and Watts in todays Age, but once again we came across second best. Vickery kicked one more goal than Watts on the weekend but apparently dominates his position - "something Watts has not yet learnt to do". I don't disagree with that statement, I wouldn't say Tyrone has dominated a position any more than Jack. Hope Killer unleashes this weekend.

Don't know if this has been covered in another thread, but I hate the way some of the media treat this club. On One Week At A Time last night Lloyd didn't have a good word to say about the dees, and instead just raved on about how poor Freo were. There's no denying they played crap, but an 89 point win deserves more than "At least they didn't over-celebrate this time".

At the end of the day, it means nothing when they run out on the park, but I hate pricks like Lloyd not giving our young players the recognition they deserve for good performances such as the Freo game.

Don't post on here much but there's my two cents. Smash 'em this weekend MFC

I think part of the "problem" is that when we beat teams, our system makes it look like the other team is having a shocking day and not trying.

Much like Collingwood and West Coast did to us.

As tends to be the case when one team thrashed another.

When we get it right, we really get it right.

Agreed. Watched the show reluctantly and Lloyd AND Walls had nothing nice to say about the Dees. Lloyd is an absolute terd.

That's OK because I don't have anything nice to say about them either. You can always get your jollies watching Lloyd cry when Essendon play like girls if you ever want some sort of revenge on him.

He's the type of player I go to the footy to watch. Smart, confident in his own ability and fast becoming a player that will be able to turn a game on its head.

Agree completely, well worth the admission costs just love watching the development. Its a pity Jurrah does not push himself as had as Jack, different skills I suppose.

Cant go saturday but will be watching on Fox at the Flying horse brewery Fabulous game between two sides coming on growing into very very good sides 10 years of rivalry

Throw in the blue baggers "special"

Go Dees Give 'em HELL !!!

The old comparison of Nats v Watts as #1 pick is gradually being put to bed.

IMO, Watts more versatile, quietly deadly, no low percentage tricky stuff, more long term upside failing injury.

In fact the comparison isn't realy made any more, is it?

Totally agree. Virtually every win we fight for, the media is always telling us how terrible the other team was - I hardly ever hear that 'Melbourne outplayed their opponent' or 'Melbourne were great today' etc. This lack of credit where I believe it is due really annoys me.

Develop some tunnel vision. In the last three years I've found myself with a "couldn't give a rat's arse what the rest of the footy world thinks" attitude, so long as I believe in the direction the club's going. I don't reckon I've ever been this happy as a MFC supporter.

Meh. Just wait for the day there are 17 terrible teams.

I don't care what they say. Most of them run with whatever the current theme is without really looking questioning if it is correct or not. The media are just as susceptible to group think as any other element in society.

I'm as happy as anyone regarding our win on the weekend. But I acknowledge that despite Fremantle's apparent lack of effort, we also contributed to their demise. I also acknowledge that despite those who bag the commentators lack of recognition, Fremantle are missing a hell of a lot of their players as well as key players in Sandilands and Mundy. It would have been a somewhat entirely different story had they been fit and the clearances would have been a different story.

Take the win and take no notice of the commentators if they bug you that much. But be mindful of where they are coming from in terms of rating sides. Our side will get much more recognition if we beat an up and running Richmond at the G this week. It's a big test in front of what should be a decent crowd on a Saturday arvo. Co-tennants. Jamar back. Go Dees !

i don't get angry with commentators as much as i used to. not even crackers' keenan's dismissive comments on fri morning bother me. this game has been talked up as a 'clinker' by different commentators so it's not all bad. when the demons win a few on the trot, inc. an interstate win then things will change.

I dunno about that. I'm feeling the beginnings of some hate at the list we've assembled and some schadenfreude at the idea we might lose Scully. Can't say that I'm unhappy at the idea. I'd rather be hated than pitied.

I find the fact that people are waiting for a 'breakout' game strange.

Why does he need to have a breakout game? Why can't he just continue to improve at the rate he is going at the moment.

If he shows gradual improvement like he has soon he will be creeping up to 4 and 5 goal games soon enough.

Completely agree. The concept of a 'breakout game' is typical wanky modern 'footyspeak'.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
