I think Viney is trying to change the game plan with only a few games to go and prepare us for the new coach when he comes in. I said it before but I'll repeat it; Bailey should have been terminated at he end of last year but was given an extension instead. I think it just became all a bit too hard because Jimmy was sick so they just rolled it over.

They stuffed up last year and they stuffed up the way they sacked him but in the end one decision was wrong and the other was right. Was the tension there between Cam Schwab because he could see that Bailey wasn't the man?

I'm in no position to judge Robbie and I genuinely mean that. I'm not debating Bailey's sacking, I'm merely asking what has happened since to "vindicate" it.

I didn't expect any more wins this year than we've achieved but I did expect to be much more competitive in the games we've lost. Disappointingly we've not picked off a "good" side (Essendon were playing terribly when we played them) but we've not lost a game I thought we should win until yesterday.

I've no issue with Bailey being sacked, people much more qualified than me make that call, but the process was a shambles and if the same people who were in charge of that are in charge of picking the new coach I'm not filled with confidence.

Pants I hear what you're saying about the draw but I was just trying to point out that it wasn't a "soda". WC were considered two wins at the beginning of the season, it would have been nice to pick off WB or Saints but we played WB when they were playing their best footy and we were seriously injured when we played Saints (and North).

The size of the loses is the most concerning thing but I repeat "what has happened since Bailey's sacking that vindicates it"? That's all I'm asking.

Nothing has changed to vindicate the sacking but the loss was probably a blessing in disguise it shows us just how far we are off the pace and just how far we have to go. Bailey has had most of the group for a few years and they played like a side that didn't have a clue. Viney was right to be disgusted with them and if this is what Bailey instilled in them then he didn't get the sack a minute too soon.

We have got a long, long way to go.

At the time of Bail's sacking the Dees were still a chance to make the finals and had won about the number of games most commentators expected.

Two thrashings and a loss to a bottom ranked team since Bailey's sacking, suggests to me that the club should have waited until the end of the season to review the entire football department as well as the coach.

We are waiting. And we will review the FD in Sept/Oct with, I would imagine, wholesale changes.

But Bailey was never a chance to coach after The Geelong Massacre of 2011. Zero chance. Null.

I was amongst the masses that thought we were somewhat better and that we might actually take a step thi sseason. They were my thoughts prior to round 1. Ive since been summarily corrected.

But it has been staring me in the face for some months now.

We are a bottom 5 side

Yes and you just stated we lost to a "bottom ranked team" (you were referring to Richmond) since Bailey's sacking and two other thrashings.

Only two clubs have won less quarters overall than us. Gold Coast (15) and Port Adelaide (22) before last weekend. We've won just 23 quarters of football. Now we've won 24. (Richmond = 31).

Our average losing margin is >60 (Av.65 before last weekend), only two clubs are thereabouts with the same figure. Gold Coast and Port Adelaide.

We are down in many areas, including percentage.

Brisbane have been a better performed team over the course of the year IMO, with an average losing margin of ~31, having lost 2 games less than 7 points. They're 15th with 4 wins. And Brisbane have played twice as many 1st year players than Mfc.

They made a lot better job of playing Collingwood than we did.
