Sack Bailey

I can tell you Newton's niche.

And the game has changed since Bate was drafted. Just ask Brock McLean about that.

Geez choco you must have burnt a hole in your keyboard with all your recent apologist posts.

Do you work for the MFC?

You might like to learn English. It's just that I'm guessing you have English characters on your keyboard, so it might be easier to learn the language.

Your post said that 7 - 8 players out is an excuse. You meant to say it's a reason, nit an excuse.

No need to call people [censored].

Agree 100% Choko. Deemort, keep the "[censored]" word off your keyboard or go and join a Collingwood or Port Adelaide forum where foul abuse is acceptable. Some people on this forum may have children with disabilities. You might be passionate about the Dees and your opinions and that is great, but there is line that should not be crossed. You crossed it.

.

Dean Bailey is a fantastic coach and he has my full support.

And of the board

For so many years this club has asked us for things money, support while rebuilding etc. But now its time they give us something back. A NEW COACH!

A coach that can teach pressure, skill (yes players need to be taught those things) etc. Oh and most importantly have a game plan that works.

Know matter what people say we have a game plan it is just very poor. I know we have a massive injury list but that doesn't stop us from attacking the

ball hard and applying pressure. Instead we choose to defend from the opening bounce. WOW exciting stuff dees.

I have not missed a game in Victoria since 2000 but to be honest with you im losing the passion to support this club

Very well said no need for that type of language.

Funny when words come back to haunt :

Recently a certain Coach was heard to invoke of his charges , to be Bold, to be Brave !!!

Shame he wan'ts so convinced himself as to set a team to win, instead of containing a loss !!

Ah yes.,.....Bold, Brave stuff that !!!

Without reading the thread:

I cannot stand Bailey's matchday coaching. At times it's deplorable.

Starting last night with a loose man in defence was awful. I cannot see any reason why anyone would do this. Putting a player behind the ball does not help us. We have an undersized forward line. How does giving Carlton a spare man help us score? It has never, ever worked for us, but Bailey managed to take it to another level by starting the game with it. We were doomed from the get go.

Absolutely despicable.

Yep, and just 1 week after he came out and said we had to be "bold".

Strauss, Bennell, Jetta

Could have got one of McKernan, Trengove, Hannebury, Ballantyne, Zaharakis, Suban, Shiels instead of Bennell.

Rory Sloane or Taylor Hunt or Rockliff for Jetta

We stuffed up in 2008. Too many soft lazy players.

Could have, should have, would have ... the value of hindsight. Sorry the draft process does not work like that.

If you try to judge players after 1-2 years you do yourself no favours. I remember not that long ago people in this very forum where screaming for Slyvia and Martins head, some even wanted to trade players like Jamar & Frawley ... imagine if we didn't have them last night.

All players improve at different rates. IMHO its unfair to judge players until they have played or if they do play 100 games.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Na he is a great coach and we need time

GET REAL he sucks WATTS in the back line great idea

we have a bloody good list but no coach to get them up each week

Typicall Bailey all talk and no action. A change is brewin.

What convinces you that a change is brewing?

Because you keep bleating that Bailey is gone, then he must be?

A handful of idiots that can't see what's really going on isn't indicative of a tangible change.

Rabble rabble rabble.

Mate imagine what you will feel like in 41 years time!

God knows why I continue.

Please don't tell me I have to endure Bennell for another 80 games!

Rabble rabble rabble.

History says it all and dont call yourself an idiot.

Doubt it.

I'd know if it was.

History says it all and dont call yourself an idiot.

Your honour, I rest my case.

Last night was the first time I've been really critical of Bailey's coaching. Staring Watts as loose man in defence said it all from the get go.

I'm not asking for Bailey's head right now but unless he can somehow manage to squeeze out at least another 5 wins this year then I reckon he's gone!

As for any potential coaches for next year and beyond, the top 5 people on my list in order would be.

1. Malthouse

2. Roos

3. Clarkson

4. Viney

5. Eade

For the last time, the game plan is only as good as the team who are asked to execute it.

Good point, even the central point. Wasted around here though ...

Long time reader but haven't yet posted. Until now.

I have always been a supporter of Bailey and quick to defend his time as coach. When he came to the club there was a load of dead wood he had to clear out and under the current processes in place, this was not something that could happen quickly. I wasn't one who really believed we were going to seriously challenge the top 8 this year let alone the top 4 like some had us pegged. Thought we would continue to slowly make further progress, some up's and downs, but very competitive and a genuine chance to win any game we played.

Unfortunately as is clear for all to see, we have not made progress at all and I now for the first time seriously doubting our coach

I don't ask much.

I want our players to be hard at the ball at all times - many are soft as butter

I want our players to be stand up when the going gets tough - we fold like a pack of cards

I want our players to hold there head up high and inspire each other - we drop our heads as if resigned to the fact they can't win

I want our players to believe in themselves, the coaching staff and the club as a whole - body language is disgraceful as is the game plan (seems to change each week).

I want to see some leadership on the ground. At least one player give the guys a rev during the game and demand they come along with them for the ride - we are rudderless.

The thing that really changed my opinion on the coach last night was the interview that Jarrod Rivers gave during the game. He said that all they can do is have a dip and see if they can continue to close Carlton down (or words to that effect).

At the time we were only two to three goals down and while it did look like the floodgates could have opened at any time, I was really looking for a strong statement from one of our leaders. Something to show the supporters they were really looking at winning the game. There just seemed an air of resignation about it.

This is where unfortunately Bailey has now lost me. If the players don't truly believe they can win a game, what hope have we got. It's the coaches job to instil this into the team and motivate the players to greater heights. We seem leaderless on the field. There seems to be a general acceptance to go along with the status quo when we are getting beaten.

I want someone to stand up when we are looking down the barrel and say - come with me boys and we will turn this around. Get tough. Get nasty.

Please show me you really care and really believe in the jumper.

We have two tough one's coming up and I want to be surprised. I want to come away, win or lose, and have my faith in the program restored.

Show me you care. Show me you are resiliant and fight with everything you have. Show me you have pride in the jumper and that this club stands for something that really matters to you.

^ poignant

a sad but true account.

Many seem to think its about Bailey per se.. Its not.. Its about the doldrums our playing group finds itself in.

Id love Bailey to be successful and instrumental, if we were to be triumphant. But we languish in the mire in the same we we have since,... well, since.,... I can remember .

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
