NOTHING TO LOSE - THE PEOPLE SPEAK

Without Bartram and Garland, we look a tad slow up back especially with both Rivers and Warnock. Especially if the Blues have Garlett and Betts up forward.

True, but also a bit untrue aswell, i think we look slower, but surely Bennell, Nichloson, Evans, have some serious jets, i just dont like their ability to be a hard defender like Garland and Bartram.

Melbourne vs Carlton Round 10, 2011 - Experience Stats

Thanks for that - they're top heavy in experience and we're bottom heavy. Couple that with who we've got out and the 'correct' result to this match is a flogging. If we pull off a win it will be close to the upset of the year for mine.

Like most have said here, I'll be happy if we just have a crack.

I agree with all of that.

Apparently Heath Scotland might be a late withdrawal. Hasn't trained much this week, due to sore hammies, from what I heard.

Honestly I'm giving us more of a chance than most, let's not forget how we responded after our WC loss. The blues have had the wood on us in recent years, but let's not forget this game is at the G. Injuries have really hurt our chances though. But as the saying goes, beware the sleeping Dragon!

Am I the only one here that has a strangely good feeling about tomorrow night?

Maybe it's just cos I'm going with all my Carlton-supporting friends and am going to shout them all down...

I like your optimism but....

The way i see it, we would need at least 5 of our 12 rookies putting in a blinder and beating their opponents hands down to offset the extra experience of the Blues at their top end, plus the rest of our boys having a 50/50 result (at least) with their opponents for us to pull this one out....

Nothing's impossible. Hec we won a night flag against the Bombers in 87 with half regulars and half 2nd stringers. But this aint for a flag and i don't think any of the current players were playing back then. Oh, and Swooper was the coach and well, anything was possible!

Not wishing to dampen your enthusiasm but I had one of those 'good feelings' against the Roos a few weeks back.....

Maybe Juice will pull one out of the fire and bag 8 (was gonna say 10 but lets be conservative eh) with Nicholson kicking a goal after the siren for the win!!

In the case of the MFC, more of a sleeping donkey.. ;)

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
