Here's food for thought. The footy gods have a way of making wheels turn in mysterious ways.

Scully had a knee injury in his final junior year and couldn't start training when he first came to the Dees. What if this latest knee injury is the next in a permanent line of knee problems. If we can't stop him from going to GWS, we will get a major bonus pick in the first round of the draft. I could see a strong argument for a first pick to replace him. We might end up with a gun player and he could end up at GWS and be a crock. Who knows. But like others I'm getting a bit over this topic. Good luck to anyone who wants to play with them after watching GC this year, who are going to be much better set up with better established players and juniors.

I'm sure he is putting a 100% effort towards his rehabilitation. Will take time but by October I have no doubts he will be a fighting 100% fit.

that's just silly how could you possibly make that statement?

It is contradictory to criticize the club and yet not make the same criticisms of the man who sets the agenda. Seems to happen alot on here.

Personally, I don't have a problem with where our club is at. We're not playing quite as well as we'd like but at seasons end, I believe our record will show that we've improved for the 4th consecutive season. Can't ask much more than that.

Mate take off your rose glasses.

We have lost one of the top three league ruckman for 8 weeks and one of our top three defenders for the season.

The first two back ups, Spencer is out for the season and Fitzpatrick 6 - 8 weeks

We have lost probably our best defender for at least 6 weeks

We have lost one of our few grunt players in Bail for a similar period.

Trengove is out for another two matches

Scully may get back for the second half of the year.

On top of that the form of our captain is so poor that he should be dropped to Casey.

I cannot see us improving on 2010 in my wildest dreams.

I see no more then 7 wins at best for the season.

And then our 'supporters' criticize the team for not showing enough backbone. Seriously, we need to harden up. Yep the chips are down, the short term doesn't look real pretty. We want our team to overcome all obstacles and play with passion and zest yet we can't even get down to Etihad to support our team. Pathetic. It's chicken and the egg stuff. People are talking about culture. Where does the culture originiate - the team or the supporters? Which of those two were around for more than one generation?

I'm over the Scully stuff. Seriously.

Just wait til (hopefully) October but more likely September. He's said it'll be the end of the season. Every indication we have had from him has been the end of the season. I'm fine with the club having backroom chats with him about it, as they should be. But keep it off the back page until he's actually looking at signing something, please!

Perfect example of 'the demonland over the top response'. Take off your (whatever the opposite of rose is) glasses.

We will definitely win more than 7 games this season. Put your house on it. We're not that good a team, but we're not that bad either.

We have already won 3.5 games without getting out of first gear and playing very ordinary football. Footy is a confidence sport and I have no doubt we'll get on a roll at least at some stage this year.

We have plenty of talent in the side and only a fool cannot see that. In 4 weeks we'll get Bail, Trengove, Scully, Mckenzie, Jamar and hopefully Morton back in the team.

We are on the right track and the sky is definitely not falling.

Improving?? Name a single team in AFL/sports history that ever improved on last year when the team is crueled by injuries. Listen to what you're saying because it doesnt make any sense.

And mark it down, Scully will stay a Demon.

toughen up...lol... Were all carrying on like hes the make or break of our future..

Reality check ...he hasnt really done that much to date...its all about "potential"

We are fawning over him ....look at the carry on to date.. are you blind you this perhaps ?

We toughen up..by saying..sign or go..

simple really

No player is that important.. its a team sport..we need a team..not one or two potential good'ens !!

just my view :)

With respect BB it was be madness on the part of Scully to sign anything before the new CBA agreement has been put in place and it would be totally unprofessional for his manager or anyone at Melbourne to advise him to sign or not to sign any contract until next year's salary cap is announced.

You must see that this is actually doing Melbourne a favour, we will be able to pay him a lot more in September than we would have been earlier than if ih singed in February for example.

I'm actually amazed that any players players from any club have signed contracts in the few weeks and months leading up to a new CBA- they're totally short-changing themselves!!!!

Iknow that its a dirty word for some people on this board but how's aboot we show a little bit of faith in the young man and believe him when he says that he's being truthful aboot being a one-club player!

And if it actually does happen and Tom leaves then i think out of or five most important players that we currently having forward and into our premiership window of 2014/18,the others being, Frawley, Jamar, Jurrah and Watts that Tom is currently the most replacable os our most important five- with Frawley, followed very closely by Jamar- we difinately need another star in Defence and in the Ruck- our mid-field on the other hand is on the verge of becoming amazing- despite the absence of Scully!!

All i hear on demonland is im sick of hearing this, im sick of hearing that!

I am sick of hearing you complain.

When you see a topic about Scully, how bout not opening it? Some of us demon supporters want to vent and discuss this possibility, this is the only place we can really do it with other passionate demon fans. Instead of complaining about talking about Scully, just go onto the other ones about Jack Watts or Dean Bailey... and if you dont wanna open those ones either, you may need to go to big footy, cause those 3 topics are about 95% of what we talk about on here...

I'm sick of all the complaining too.

Why do people always feel the need to complain?

Honestly, haven't we all had enough of this topic?

Like it or not, Tom has every right to wait on his contract talks. I have no problem with the logic of holding off until 1, the new salary cap deals are done and 2, he is playing again and can put forward a case o the field for a better deal. It's a sensible thing to do. He does not owe the club an early signing to keep the fans happy. If he does that he is selling himself short.

From all reports Tom is happy with his situation, enjoys playing at the club and has bonded well with the other young players in the group. We have also been told over and over again that he is a young man of sterling character. You do him a disservice by assuming he is lying to the club. He has said repeatedly that there has been no approach by GWS, and I will take that as gospel.

I say he's doing a great job of putting up with the expectations of the fans and the media beat-up about GWS. He's done everything short of signing a new contract to dispel the rumours, and as I point out above, he is under no obligation to do so if it could cost him a better contract after he has put some games together this season. I think the best thing we can do is take him at his word and leave him alone.

Sculls is a terrific young man. He might only be 19, but he has a 25 year olds head on his shoulders. I can't say for sure what he is going to do, but it will come down to more than just money. We are talking about potentially one of the best midfielders of a generation. If he is to leave a legacy behind, he had a better chance at doing it with a club that is already on the cusp of finals (if it was not for the horrific run of injuries we would have beaten North and be nestled in the mix of the top 8) then a team of kids and overpaid spare parts.

Many are supposing that its all well and good.. Lets wait until the salary pool is known etc etc etc. Thats an excuse.

He could wel land trully sit down today and sign with the club and sign a letter of intent with view to a new contract with clauses allowing reference to some fluctuation vis-a-vis the so called salary pool dispersals etc.

Basically it would say.. Im wanting to remain a Dee and we can work out the 'absolutte figure" later on. Its done in many fields. Its done by honourable folk who respect each others positions.

That thats not happening suggests theres more than a little smoke !!

As far as I'm concerned the MFC has done all the right things in building a new culture for him to be involved in and one day lead! They now have great facilities, he is playing in his home town close to his family and has been given one MFC's greatest numbers. There is a great core of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players for him to come through with. If he goes anywhere it will be to Richmond where he was a mad supporter as a kid. We would be heavily compensated for this with High draft picks and money. We also have the son of a former great waiting in the wings to fill the void if left by Tom should he choose to go! I would love to see him stay he is a gun, as true supporters we should all get around him and make his decision easy. Culture is not only the players past and present but the supporters as well.

Hoepfully we will see Scully playing soon.

Wouldn't mind seeing him get the vice captains job. If we want to change the culture at our club, we need players with Scully's attitude to lead the club. That is how change occurs.

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
