I have learned something from this, all the past players, all the current players, all of the media and all of the fans know nothing about football. Only Adrian Anderson and those employed by him on the MRP, Tribunal and Appeals Board do.

I actually feel that Adrian Anderson and those mentioned should feel ashamed of what they have done to a 19 year old kid, who has never been reported in his life and who has been treated worse than a thug, who elbows or punches an unsuspecting opponent in the face.

Congratulations AFL you just created 35,000 (40,000 if JS gets his way) angry new MRP experts on the warpath watching for the next unjust episode. Dug a nice big hole.

AFL quite happy to, unjustly, hang a good young kid out to dry. Hope they also hang their heads in shame when they put the medal around his neck one day. He's a tough kid and will become stronger for this.

Redleg was right - 4 minutes to reach a verdict. Somethings rotten in Denmark and was from the outset.

To be honest, I understand the AFL's position without agreeing with it.

They are sh!tscared by the proposition of players being badly concussed and suing the league because they have a duty of care, to protect their heads.

The AFL have a serious problem and have gone to great lengths to try to solve it, whether it is fair on the players or not.

That is the least of their concerns.

As Scott Cummings said tonight, if you play a contact sport, don't be surprised when there's a bit of contact.

But the AFL is doing what it can to influence changes in the game so that high contact injuries are removed almost altogether, the same way they have eliminated the bump in the last couple of years.

God knows what players will choose to do instead of tackle.

A few more cases like this and they'll have to find an alternative.

To suspend a guy who has never even been reported in his life for a perfect tackle for three weeks because the guy he tackled swung his leg as he was tackled is just the most pathetically ridiculous outcome

I can't see any court of law in Australia awarding damages to someone like Dangerfield for receiving a concussion while willingly participating in a contact sport.

There is no negligence, he was taken care of immediately after the incident, and the player was performing a lawful act on the field.

If the AFL is so worried about duty of care, why do they let morons like Brown continuously snipe players behind play? Why is Judd allowed to draw blood from an opponent's face? Why is smothering allowed when it can cause serious bone damage?

Some moron gave this case the wrong grading and the AFL, never one to admit a mistake, did not want to back down and prove to everyone that they are idiots. I just wish that the club takes this to another level, publicly or privately. For all our great club has done for this game, we deserve much better. Stynes should give the AFL his own please explain.

The AFL no doubt took more note than me of the story - perhaps that explains their drive to establish a "new standard" and it would be necessary for at least one to be an example.

Convenient if it doesn't involve Collingwood or Essendon - that's just the way it goes.

I'm not talking about after one single incident, but at the end of a player's career when he finds he has brain damage from cumulative head trauma as a result of playing the game.

They are trying to avoid the situation you have in NFL where there is evidence emerging of brain damage amongst a large percentage of ex-players.

Maybe not necessarily because of legal action, but it's also not a good look when trying to promote the game.

It's not becoming netball, as some say, but it is becoming a lot more like soccer or Gaelic football.

I would love to go to the game this week. Black armband would be on for me. The AFL has impugned the name of a fair and upstanding young man and need to be held to account for this. I feel rage like I can't believe about this decision, and find myself constantly asking what can be done. I am angry for Jack, but more than anything I am so angry and upset for our game. It is at a crossroads. Take the wrong direction and you can't turn around and go back. What we have is being ruined before our eyes and I find it terrifying.

I have just been informed that the HS news desk is aware of this (I reposted it on the Free Demon Jack page), so hopefully we will get some coverage. Who is game for a grass roots demonstration of our disquiet with this decision?

I'll be there, black arm band and all! Would be great if this did end up getting some media coverage. If people are buying duct tape, bring it the rest of it to the game... people are bound to ask questions, get more people to tape there arms!

The AFL could solve this issue by changing the wording of rough play appendix 1 to read as follows

"Any perfect tackle will be immediately free-kicked and the player placed on a rough conduct charge"

That should be clear enough.
