Trengove suspended for 2 ... now 3 weeks

How can you tell someone to go less than 100% at each and every contsest!

He says that you can get the same outcome by using less force, as if you would encourage a player to ever tackle at less than 100% any thing less and he could of broken free from the tack or disposed of the ball!!!!!!

that clown Tinneys argument that the game has changed and this case should be based on the game as it is now and not before was the most ridiculois argument compounded by the fact that he said Trengove could have used less force in the tackle. The game is played at the most frenetic pace than it ever has been so how does a player moderate the amount of force that he applies in a tackle at the pace the game is today.

Absolutely gobsmacked by this decision and the MRP should be lambasted until its disbanded after this. This is a farce but what seriously what do you expect.

Why didn't the club have a QC arguing there case?

It is obvious given his previous instances re Steven Baker/Steve Johnson case that he goes beyond what is called for as the tribunal advocate and his healthy ego requires him to leave his stamp on proceedings. I fail to see how a lawyer can question or adjudicate on matters of tackling technique and whether Trengove could have used less force.

Tinney didn't "adjudicate". That's the role of the tribunal members themselves. He doesn't have to decide on the amount of force, just raise the pertinent issues according to the charge through questioning.

Am I right in thinking that Tinney plays the role of "prosecutor" in this tribunal?

he presumably represents the mrp's decision

The cheersquad will be fined if they do anything. Our players will be fined for what they've already done (Twitter).

Can we (Demonland, Demonology etc...) come up with some kind of banner or some other kind of symbolic protest for Saturday's game to unveil/perform in the crowd, get a bit of attention and remind everyone that Trengove should be out there against Norf? I can't come up with anything G-rated or not over-the-top with Osama Bin Laden comparisons. Can anyone do any better?

Brad Green - Duty of care??? It was the perfect tackle...

The problem I have with this whole system is that it has no feel for the game.

And also that they have their favourites in there. Judd would NEVER get suspended for this tackle. Ever. Tinney would be told by Vlad to argue that "it was forceful but part of the game".

I'm sick of our players being made examples of. It was a rubbish citing, a rubbish ruling and a rubbish decision, and we're weak if we don't take this to the next level and appeal, on principle if nothing else.

Think you're allowed to, long as you can find somewhere to hang it.

Assuming the appeal fails, a simple banner of 'Free Trengove' would do the damage.

Consequential Damages

Would be very interested in Legal Opinion on this, but my reading of the decsion is it opens all players up to consequential damages.

That is if you do anything at all on the field that is against the rules of the games, and the someone else on the field suffers as a result then you can be charged.

So kicking the ball after a whistle, and someone tries to mark it and they fall and hit ther head then you are out.

If you kick in danger and get someones head with the ball then you are out.

If you kick-in and go over the line the line and then at the other end of the ground someone falls over and bangs there head then you are out.

Note this should also aply to same team offences, so if any of the above result in your own team being injured then you should also be out.

That is consequential damages.

Biggest load of bull I have ever seen.

I am sick of Melbourne being the test of the AFL,I hope like hell the Dees appeal.

When living in North QLD i would hear people call our game gAyFL

I am starting to agree with them

I was both a Demons and Aussie rules fan back in the day but am only a Demons fan now. Aussie rules as I knew it is long gone

RIP Aussie rules

Judd would never even be reported - he is untouchable. I bet if he had come to Melbourne he would have been scrutinised though! :o

Its obvious that you can now no longer tackle with force

All tackles must now have a TFF (Tackle Force Factor) of 72% or less

The MRP will be the final arbiter in determining the TFF of any tackle

Consequently coaches are expected to now instruct their players not to tackle but to try and knock the ball out of the players hands.

God, that is just so MFCSS.

A simple banner "Demetriou, The death of the AFL, The bringer of $oftne$$"

Since he took over, yes the health of the bank balance is great, the game it's self is dying a slow death.

Thinking of making a banner for Saturdays game about not being able to tackle, anyone got ideas, i'm a bit stuck

that petty much sums it up.

Arm the players with marshmallows and white feathers.

"O'Donnell says the Demons teach players to tackle in that manner"

Looks like we will need to go back to the game plan we had against West Coast.

I would love to see the team for the whole game refuse to tackle.

Yes we would lose, so what. The afl would have to put up with so much media heat on top of supporters and the betting agencies and TV.

After the game have DB just say we could not afford to have any more players reported.

( I know this would never happen, but I would support the club if they did this.)

Well there are probably a few legal ways to protest. What about after every Dees goal we all stand and start chanting Trengove.

All Dees supporters stand for the first 5 minutes of each quarter and chant AFL crap.

Demonstration outside AFL house.

Supporters stand near radio and TV broadcast boxes and scream out Trengove was robbed.

Bombard AFL house with emails of protest.

Bombard the press with protest emails and tweets.

Ring up radio shows and vent.

etc.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
