THE COACH

Featured Replies

It is the Hawthorn game all over again.

The game plan to swarm back just leaks goals when they are under pressure. Geelong showed how a well coached side can absorb this pressure and not get the score board damage.

I may as well start it...time for the Melbourne Footy Club to show some balls for the first time in a while and get rid of this bloke. Zero improvement in the skill level over four seasons, and the lack of a game plan is concerning to say the least.

no game plan = coachs fault

poor starts = no respect or attitude to play for the coach

gettin hard to defend bails when even the leaders r soft

will he tell us how good the eagles r like he said about the hawks

I wouldn't stop at DB, the rest of them are doing nothing... DB will continue to keep our Demons as the joke side.

I've defended Bailey in these arguments, but I have to admit, I'm starting to think change is needed. We are young, we have talent, we were never going to be a great side this year. But this continual poor starts, with lack of structure and very ordinary skills during games...even the suns have more structure than we do.

I've been a staunch supporter but I'm pretty damn close to getting off the band wagon. Something has to change and very quickly to change my mind.

We need a top line coach now....Bailey is an assistant. I like him but he is not the coach we need.

We need to start the change this week otherwise the whole season is going to get worse.

Jimma deserves better than this.

Continual.

Put Connolly in there now. This club need to spend on the best coaches available. No matter what it takes.

We can't let this group dissolve away into nothing again. Just give me some dam G&D, a sign that a group of players understand what the fARK they are meant to be doing out there.

I fail to see it. Continually.

That hardest thing, {at least for me} is watching team that are behind us becoming competitive so quickly. IE Bombers Eagles,

mathews, malthouse and roos question our game plan. We need to take the hint

i hope we get flogged so we get the scrutiny we need

the lack of mongrel, guts and having a crack is seriously evident. i have never seen this side as a hard side at any stage under bailey. things have got to change.

at least put some balls into it you bunch of over paid prima donnas

Mark Williams = Ball Movement.....PFFFFFTTTTTT!

Josh Mahoney = Bailey Love Child

Choco Royal = Defensive coach....OMG!!! (retirment fund?)

Fire Sale...Fire Sale!

He has to go now.

He's lost the players, he's clearly lost Schwab and other high ranking officials.

Dean Bailey has no place at MFC

I believe that this is exactly what I was referring to about will to win the other day WYL. I just didn't think they would prove my point so spectacularly.

I remember at the time of looking for a new coach, many were strongly against Connolly. But compared to Bailey, having him as coach would be seen as a stroke of genius. At least Connolls has some passion for this club. Bailey looks like he couldn't give a [censored]. Time for change, don't wait til seasons end, sacking him now will send a strong message that we will not stand for mediocrity. Connolls to take over for the rest of the year, then try and get a coach who has some idea of a gameplan that works, and has a plan b&c should plan a not be working.

Have been a big fan of Dean's but would love to see a John Northey type with this group.

One who can get them playing for each other, with some real passion and never say die attitude.

This is not good tonight

MB perhaps we are not as talented as we think!

bailey isnt up to it

attitude is everything and we have none

gotta be gone now, surely

i think we r all gettn sick of his positive spin on things

how about motivatin the players

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
