And the amount of clanger kicks by Grimes.

If that's your concern I suggest you do a proper analysis of the demon backline disposal skills. Bartram, Garland Rivers? I suggest you add that extra column and go alphabetically with Bartram at the top. Call it efficient disposal. It will be a lot easier to count than clangers. He runs well, great courage, little football mind, close in handball is about his best skill, the rest are hardly worth it. Thinking to slow, to indecisive, to inaccurate.

Graham Molloy's son Jeff?

well he was before my time, and atleast we didnt have to waste draft picks on father sons then..chris johnson walked out on us to goto carlton, dean bailey i think ripped him a new one when he left, no big loss though

I put a post up saying that Jack Viney has appeared at the training run on both the last two Saturday mornings, to have a run with the team, looks really sharp and fit already

Spoke to Todd at the Casey game, they are hoping to do a Liberatore, ie keep himm training and playing with a monitored program in place, so when he is drafted he is really ready to go from day one.

He is at 80kg at the moment and growing slightly taller.

Agree - now you are having a go at Grimes. The way you are going at him, I don't have to make a comment. You'll be soon agreeing with me that Garland is not a key defender after a shocker last week against Brisbane.

Are you unable to detect sarcasm? Seriously?

Your constant personal attacks are tiresome. Give it a rest.

I spotted him in the change rooms before yesterday's game, having a chat to Jordie McKenzie... good to see.

As for where he's playing, I believe Oakleigh and Carey Grammar in the APS... and Vic Metro no doubt.

Yes he is working through a program which balances his Year 11 studies with his desire to play some footy with his schoolmates.

David King is Carey's senior coach - so even at school he is getting direct exposure to the AFL.

David King is all class when it comes to the modern game

"Molly" Molloy's son Glenn. A ranga from memory. I think the post to which you were responding was more in reference to Chris Johnson, son of Alan.

If I'd been drinking something when I read that I think it would have ended up on the monitor.

Personally I find some of the responses to that post more alarming than amusing.

Emma Quayle reveals how Melbourne can secure Jack Viney early in Clubs strike it rich on early calls.

Not boasting (much), but I'd like to award a prize to whoever finds my post from last year where I suggested that the club should avail itself of this rule to officially secure Jack Viney a year early and without having to give up a first round pick.

We can see from what's been happening at GC17 that new franchises need a balance of more mature bodies and experienced players to help the younger players out in their formative years and I think Sheedy is astute enough to be able to figure this out and, among other things, use this rule to help achieve that balance with his squad. It's all a matter of learning from the mistakes of others.

Incidentally, the VFL/TAC Cup Record list for the Oakleigh Chargers has Jack Viney (#20) down at 178cm 77kg. He turned 17 years of age two days ago, so from one Jack to another. Happy Birthday!

No- but you surely do.

This is fantastic if it happens. Win-win. GWS get a draft pick that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, and we won't have to use a 1st round draft pick to secure Jack.

Jaded, if the communicator wants to be understood, then it's the communicators responsibility to alter their methods to get the story across. If they care.

Why is sarcasm the lowest form of wit?

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit since its aim is to belittle or hurt someone, and to laugh at their expense; we associate the word "cutting" with it. On the other hand, true wit associates with the word "levity", and boosts everyone's spirits, being aimed at an action, a happening or an attitude.

come come dee-luded, don't be so pedantic and victorian, its just a saying like many others and not always true

sarcasm is perfectly acceptable (and amusing) in the right context

other inaccurate truisms....

"the grass is always greener on the other side"

"a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"

etc etc

Their are a number of equally high players available in this group, predicted top tens i believe who are able to be drafted by the four "lucky" clubs.

I would ask why not try to secure one of these other players who we have zero chance of accessing with our first pick the following year presuming we will be mid teens or so?

We already have access toJack who is supposedly a top ten draft pick who HAS committed and we will get with a similar mid teens pick at the most.

Get one of the 17y we can receive at a similar discount to jack then take jack the following year?

Some big packages will be offered to be one of the four clubs with access to these kids, all of them including such players as jack and daniher are huge prospects.

just my thought on it

Agreed, and we all use it to some degree.

I think the difference is in the 'Tone', whether the tone is well meaning and cheeky, or if it is just plane Mean and Nasty,,, malicious. Thats why we ban obsceneity, not for it's homour, but it's Hurt factor, or damage.

The 'Tone' is hugely important as it underpins the 'Ambience' of the whole site. How we getalong, or we can become like 'ology'.

absolutely...........we are in agreement then

Pretty sure Jack is off to Europe tomorrow for 12 days with the AIS AFL Academy.

Article

Here is the link saying that he was selected last year for the intake

Interestingly, the first article states that the Australian U17 team will play a match against the Geelong VFL side as a curtain raiser to tonights game at the MCG. Hopefully Jack gets a run and we can see how he has progressed somewhat since last year.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
