For too long we have been putting up with, lack of intensity, we didn't play to our structures,as reasons for very poor showing. There's got to be more indepth explanations that ring true with us. Poor excuses keep the problems hidden and not addressed. To move forward we need better assessment of our performance if we are going to rectify such absolute thrashings.

Mate, you just gotta roll with the punches. I'm sure the coaching staff, the players and the club would be bitterly disappointed with the game yesterday.

The indepth analysis that you require has already been done, you simply have to realise where we currently are at with respect to the rest of the competition and understand there is a reason why Jimmy and Schwab state we are at "base camp".

Unfortunately you cannot wave a magic wand and put 100 plus games into players. Yes we have a young talented list, but it is goin to take time to gel. Gold Coast's performance highlights this. They have had access to the cream of the talent over the past two years, were able to develop these players in the VFL last year whilst adding some impressive recruits in Ablett, Harbrow, Rischitelli etc and they still got rolled by 119 points.

Please do not underestimate the importance of experience in the heat of battle.

How could we do that when it was those players that went missing?

This attitude of just gong to sleep for quarters or games has been going on for many years now. I don't know what the fix is but geez it bugs me.

Our experienced players are too few and those that are in that bracket are honest but not world beaters. We need better players in the engine room and its going to take time.

I agree it will take time. Unfortunately when our best midfield group consists of Scully, Trengove, McKenzie, Bail, Gysberts and the like who are all 19 year olds with underdeveloped bodies we will continue to get smashed at clearances for a while yet.

What is not acceptable however is our lack of desire to put the opposition under intense pressure with our tackling. If we can't win the stoppages, lets at least make it hard for the opposition by being ferocious with our tackling. It is a skill that even the worst footballer can perform and it is the kind of thing that all the best teams do well.

It just seemed that when the lights came on we just fell apart to put it mildly. Im not sure if it was a major factor that we would have had less experience under lights than hawthorn, but im sure it contributed.

The attitude goes right back to the ND days and I've been hoping that with the club kicking goals off field the onfield attitude might have changed.

I do understand that. It's not the getting beaten that I mind it's just the sleep mode we have sometimes where everyone looks for someone else to do the work. The attitude goes right back to the ND days and I've been hoping that with the club kicking goals off field the onfield attitude might have changed.

But its not an attitude issue. And there are few players left from the ND era. Jones and Moloney play with their hearts on their sleeves. However they are not good enough in the midfield. Against class midfielders they get found out too often. We also suffer from having too few senior players and too few strong leaders in the team.
