Stretch was a good running HBF who could take a good grab, he was not gutless as you suggesting.

Stretcher was a top wingman/hbf with better kicking, running ability than 98 % of players running around today.

Careers are judged by performance in finals. And Stretch's career was definitely marked by that incident. Having said that I am reliably informed he was one of the first players picked every week. I liked him as a player.

Agree, the similarities between Steven Stretch and Cale Morton in physical attributes and skills is very similar. But that's where it stops. Stretch whilst not the most aggressive or physical player, did not shirk contests or get intimidated by them, and this is where he reigns so much more supreme than Morton.

Steven Stretch was a natural right footer but you'd have hardly known as he was near ambidextrous on his left.

While I am not necessarily happy with the notion of bagging Cale again - you cannot put Aaron in such a place simply on his last two years.

From 2004 to 2010 he was a fantastic contributor for this club and won a Bluey in 09, indeed he was a reason to go to the footy in 08 and 09.

Fair enough. I think the disappointment of his past two years has left a pall though over what he 'achieved' earlier in his career.

I don't think his 2010 was that great either to be honest.

I'd take Stretch over Davey at both their peaks.

Stretch won the B&F in the year we broke our 23 years finals drought and played over 150 games, yet the most vivid recollection you want to share about this former player on a thread dedicated to potentially drafting his Son is that one incident ?

Sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders which doesn't mean he will be the best footballer, but I have heard good things about the kid.

Gees he speaks well for a 15 year old, sounds like he has a good head on his shoulders.

Hopefully he develops into a player similar to his old man, if not better.
