Jerry Jones is such a bad owner, he treats his stars like crud.

Certainly a strange GM/Owner in the way he deals with players.

Yet he does have a record of talking loads of bullocks and then paying the guy. I'm not sure this will end up that way though. My guess is he'll be a Bill or Packer

Yes, it's that time of year again! The NFL kicks off next Friday 10am with Dallas @ Eagles. Tipping comp should be a goer again ... 3 road winners with 3 picks gets you 3 points (2 from 3 gains 1 point)

Bonus point weeks - Week 2, 5, 9, 13, 17 & 18

And if you are the sole winner in any given week you gain a bonus point

And a shout-out to anyone that wants to participate in the comp

Just post up your 3 road winners and away you go. Easy as pie

And to get into the swing of things, the College game of the week is on at 9.30am tomorrow (Kayo or Foxtel)

LSU (9) @ Clemson (4)

Texas (1) @ Ohio State (3) is on at 2.00am but not covered via streaming or Cable

I occasionally tune in to a College game or 2 just to catch the atmosphere, as the matches are often full-on!

You've got Dak back so that will make the team more competitive (at least)

But a tough division with the Eagles & Washington involved

And apparently after the trading of Parsons, Dallas (Jerry Jones) could be making a move for Arch Manning in next year's draft (according to various news outlets)

Is he as good as people say?

I don't really follow college football. I believe he wasn't the first option at QB last year.

Don't know but there's a lot of hype

Texas lost today against Ohio State but Arch's numbers weren't too shabby

The Manning name and because it's Texas and Jerry Jones?

Tbh I think the Parsons deal is horrible for the Cowboys. I can’t see them finishing above the eagles or commanders, Giants could be better or could be… well the giants.

Packers are now rated as second fav for SB in NFC, my massive concerns are still their secondary and Loves ability to not turn the ball over as much, and to win the NFC the run stopping game better be on point and whilst their l pass rush is better with Parsons, I think the loss of Clark hurts the Run D.

Yeah there seems to be too much onus on Love but the team has been QB centric going back to when Favre starting his career

I'd much prefer it if the team was renowned for it's defense and running game with the passing game as a reasonably strong add-on

To be honest, every time I've seen Willis fill in as the QB he's looked good. But Love is now a 26yo so he's entering his prime years

But really happy to have Parsons on board. He's a difference-maker

I'm expecting the Bears to improve and the Vikes are hard to beat. And then there's the Lions with a real point to prove. The NFC North will be a big watch

Dont get me wrong, I think Parsons is a great get, and he pushes you guys to serious contenders. But in the NFC the two biggest threats are the Eagles and Lions, both who have amazing run games. Thats where the challenge will be.

Rams will be similar, I think we can match it offensively (if healthy) with the top teams, but I dont rate our Run D massively, although with Poona Ford now on board that should be better.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
