SNF this week is Chicago @ Green Bay

Oldest rivalry in the sport with 203 meetings.  Packers hold a slight advantage with 103 wins vs Bears 96 wins (along with 6 ties)

MNF has 2 games this week and both could be keenly contested ... Titans @ Bills along with Vikings @ Eagles

The two 7Mate games on Monday morning are decent too

3.00am Bucs @ Saints

6.25am Arizona @ Las Vegas Raiders

Yep, one of the oldest and fierce rivalries around. You could make an argument for Cowboys and Eagles being the biggest divisional rivalry but there's something about games with the conerstone NFL franchises and I love the history with this one. Some great stories about how Lombardi was always paranoid about Hallas having spies at Packers practices!

Chargers v Chiefs was a cracker, it was all about the D taking the chances, KC pick Herbert on the 1yrd line and run it back 99, chargers drop 2 very good int and missed a few others.
cracking game tho.

Herberts ribs are either broken or bad,t bruised and he still threw a dart down field.

That was a classic football game. Hope Herbert isn't too bad that was a hell of a performance.

Micah Parsons is a star.

Bengals look super poor up front, Rams tried to blow a big lead, Ramsey came up big at the end. Browns, Ravens and Raiders did blow big leads!!!

Rodgers still owns Chicago but they looked better running the ball well.

Miami look strong. But still need to maintain it.

I would not be paying Lamar Jackson what he thinks he deserves. I don’t think he will ever deliver a SB to the Ravens.

There is steam coming out of my ears.

For the 3rd time in 4 years one of our marquee players has succumb to a season ending injury: Trey Lance has broken a fibula and had possible ligament damage.

Yes you do these plays when the game is there to be won but this was 2nd and 8 in the second quarter with a running game that was already buzzing! We'd run him in a series of QB draw plays but this one was more of a zone read and the inuwas horrific.

As a Niners fan it is hard not to be angry at Kyle Shanahan right now. Last week and this week calling plays that invloved Lance running between the tackles through the middle and potentially getting hurt. Well he did and Shanahan took no responsiblity whatsoever in his presser. We traded 3 picks to get this guy and decided to use him as a FB, nice job! Couldn't help but think of RG3 in Washington where both Mike and Kyle were involved in calling that play 10 years ago.

Plus side is the Jimmy G comes in and we know he can win you games. Don't think he's quite good enough to win or even get us to a Superbowl this year but playoffs are not a lost cause. Still damn frustrating, Lance missed so much football in College from Covid, hardly played last year and now loses another season.

Bills smash the Titans and the Eagles dominate the Vikings (Where's Dappa?)

Packers win but we've got holes to fill.  Jones was good but he needs to shine against a team like Tampa (good luck!) Dillon ok as well so the running game looks better a year on

Run defence still wobbly (allowed 180 yards) Pass defence better but we're at the Bucs next Sunday (late game) Brady vs Rodgers

Don't know what to make of the Bears.  Their D just allowed too many yards but the passing game wasn't there.  Still, Fields can get better with more games under his belt

Bucs win well at the Saints (held them to 10 points) ... Tampa look the team to beat in the NFC

Jags shut out the Colts!  Clint can tell us what happened as I've only seen brief highlights

Rams win against a fast finishing Atlanta

Former Ram, Jared Goff threw 4 TD's to get Detroit up over the Washington Commanders!

49ers get it done against the Seahawks.  The NFC West could be a 3 horse race although the Rams still favs

Bills look the team to beat in the AFC although KC will be thereabouts

Giants win again but the Eagles loom large in the NFC East.  Dallas win an important game with the QB (Cooper Rush) having a big game.  Cowboys aren't out of it

Miami win a barnburner at the Ravens.  Dolphins are 2 & 0 and only 6 of the 32 teams are undefeated after week 2

As for the tipping comp ... we are all still in the barriers!!

Rams lose another lineman for the season, and CB Troy Hill is now on IR, so misses at least 4. Our oline is worst in the league and now has lost three from it. This is not good, we couldn’t run it well prior to these injuries.
we did have success using Skrownek (sp) as a full back… I mean a WR as a full back… and it worked… weird.

Some good games this week - especially the evening matches & the late Sunday games

Tipping a bit easier this week but be aware of a trap game or 2

2 points up for grabs this week plus a bonus point on offer if you go it alone

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
