Casey Scorpions 2011

KC from Casey

Firstly WJ a great festive season to you & yours and wish RR the same for me,as he doesn't respond to me.. Thanks for enlightening me re Wall- I think, we have a great chance to develop a very strong team at Casey which indeed will allow that winning feeling to come through with our young and developing players. A real climate to develop a winnning culture.

I've passed on your wishes to Rhino Richards and just in case he was the wrong RR, I also sent a Xmas email to Rodney Rude :)

Seasons greetings to all.

The club's first practice match next Saturday (5th March) v Box Hill Hawks has been moved to Toomuc Reserve, Princes Highway, Pakenham so as to help bring the home ground at Casey Fields up to best condition for the season proper. The Reserves commence at 11am and Seniors at 1.30pm.

The following week's practice match (12th March)v Sandringham will now be played at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham. Reserves commence at 10am and Seniors at 1pm.

Final scores received from Pakenham

Casey Scorpions 1.0.6 6.7.43 9.9.63 12.9.81

Box Hill Hawks 5.4.34 6.5.41 8.8.56 10.11.71

Good win after a slow start against the wind.

Reserves

Casey Scorpions 0.3.3 3.3.21 5.5.35 9.6.60

Box Hill Hawks 4.3.27 7.10.52 9.15.69 12.20.92

Considering the numbers of AFL listed players available to the respective clubs, it was a reasonable effort from the reserves who should be greatly strengthened over coming weeks.

The club hopes to have Casey Fields back up to scratch by round 1.

I couldn't make it down to Pakenham for yesterday's game due to work commitments but hope to get some info during the week.

All I managed to get was the scores and the fact that my correspondent thought Casey moved the ball well, looked slick and pacy.

With Melbourne's injury list and the fact that several players were rested today, It's hard to imagine that many MFC listed players took part today although there was some word around the traps that Max Gawn would line up for the Scorpions and play perhaps half a game. On my reckoning there would be very few Demons in line for a run with Casey - possibly Sam Blease, Cameron Johnston and Kelvin Lawrence.

On the other hand, I know Box Hill had several Hawthorn listed players available including 2008 premiship team members Stephen Gilham, Brent Guerra and Jordan Lewis.

Edit: I have learned from a Box Hill source that Max Gawn and Sam Blease did play. Won in the ruck against much shorter opposition (Max Bailey and Paul Johnson who has committed to Box Hill even if not rookie listed were both injured. Sam Blease showed out in the first half but was probably rested after that.

Scorpions with pretty much a young side against the Zebras were overwhelmed in the first half but came back under the agency of Austin Wonaeamirri who showed some rare form at times around goal. However, you don't get up often from a 50 point half time deficit. Casey missed a focal point up forward and eventually might find their recruit from Brisbane handy once he gets back from holidaying in Las Vegas (provided he can afford the return ticket).

Jake Spencer and Max Gawn won the ruck duels but apart from that, not a great deal to report.

Casey Scorpions 12.5.77 lost to Sandringham Zebras 19.16.130

The reserves won their match of which the feature was the return to football after 12 months out of Kyle Matthews.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
