Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jim Stynes on the Footy Show

It was an amazing Footy Show.

To double up Jim with Shane Crawfords achievement over the past couple of weeks, it was an extremly worthwhile couple of hours to spend in front of the TV.

Two pretty incredible men.

I'd like to echo the sentiments of those in this thread regarding TFS last night. I didn't know Jim was going to be on, I was interested in seeing Crawford's return from the 780km journey.

It was certainly emotional and whilst Sam and Crawf can act as dimwits most of the time, you certainly saw the human side and Sam's compassion shone through. Crawf was emotionally and physically exhausted. Great achievement for a good cause. Inspiring many affected from Breast Cancer along the way as well as raising significant donations.

Jim's interview and the trailer shown was heart string pulling stuff and makes Sunday's documentary on nine a must watch for families at large.

Big wraps for TFS last night.

Is he going to go down as the best thing that's EVER happened to the club?

Once we get a photo of him at 5:30 on Grand Final day holding up the premiership cup, then no doubt.

Two things that I would really, really like to see...

Thanks to the link posters as I missed recording the show. Not a fan of it though, Sam Newman

Needs a NSFW disclaimer. Spent a good 15 minutes just trying to compose myself after tearing up so much.

I reckon that was the brisbane game where Dean Bailey said in the huddle Jim is watching because that was the first game we played after Jim was diagnosed.

West Coast R14 last year. (Needed to do something to occupy myself!)

Agree HT. Sunday's doco will be compelling viewing, but tough to watch.

Whether he makes it or not, or we make it or not in 2011 he'll be the single most important individual when it comes to winning our next flag. Whether or not he's around to see it, it'll be the Stynes premiership.

All I can think is that young kid who walked over the mark in '87 would have felt nothing but devastation, and would have at the time sold his soul to repay his mistake. He already did that as a player, but I think even then the only thing he'd want to see is the premiership cup with red and blue ribbons coming off it. It kind of breaks my heart to think he won't be able to see that vision. At the same time though, he must have that solemn pride to know that what he's done has given us our club back, and given us the opportunity to win multiple flags.

I was shocked I had not seen him for a while and I guess it should not be a surprise.

But he looked terrible last night.

You would wonder how long he can go on!

Words fail me

I wouldn't read much into that. The last thing I want to do is try to make this a thread about me, but I can categorically tell you that chemo and radiotherapy will leave you looking that way for a little while afterwards. Also, he mentioned he was just coming off steroids to combat swelling, and that he'd had a bad reaction to it; in that case, you'd definitely expect a loss of appetite and skin tone. It'll come back.

I know it's confronting, but you have to keep in mind that the vastly more likely scenario is that it's a temporary result from his treatment, and not a sign that the cancer is getting on top of him.

I'm generally a bit cynical whenever these kinds of things are handled by Channel's 7 or 9, because they have a nasty habit of taking very real tragedies and reducing them to the kind of light entertainment you'd sit there and watch with a box of tissues in one hand and a bucket of popcorn in the other. From what they showed on TFS, this looks like being a very worthwhile exception.

The Jimma WILL be there for our 13th Flag....He is stronger than all of us.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
