Pick 12 - Lucas Cook!

Darling will be gone, but I heard he has an attitude problem anyway - don't need that poisoning our club.

I believe we need a key forward with some mongrel in him, in the mould of a Jonathon Brown, perhaps not as good though.

I think Cook fits the bill!

Dont want to judge on a 2 minute vid but he didnt show many key forward qualities. Most of his possies where on the ground, didnt see any contested marks.

Same thing on the Tom Lynch video.

In fact, I haven't seen much contested marking in any of the KPP highlights for this draft, although they are said to be highly-rated.

Either it proves that you can't judge a player based on a highlights package from the national champs, or the word on the street is full of crap.

I'm leaning towards the former, with a little bit of the latter.

Try Josh Walker. Geelong Falcons/Vic Country. He would suit us nicely. Suit a later pick. I am sure I have seen footage of him, can't find it atm.

Looks promising- can play as a tall both back & forward but IMO- not a pick 12.Maybe a pick 17 or later.

Taken from Bigfooty Boards:

Name: Lucas Cook

Height: 194cm

Weight: 82kg

DOB: 3rd March 1992

Position: Tall Forward

Club: North Ballarat Rebels

TAC Cup Statistics: http://www.sportingpulse.com/team_in...102897-8058800

Video Footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Svd3Qc64k0w

In 2008 Cook played three matches for Vic Country in the NAB AFL Under – 16 Championships, averaging 13 disposals, three marks, and 4 inside 50’s, and also 5 matches for North Ballarat in the TAC Cup. He backed this up to play 15 games as a lead up key forward, scoring 14 goals at an accuracy of 64%. He also tallied 23 score assists – ranked equal 9th in the competition. AFL Prospectus

An exceptional first game of the championships, in which he kicked five goals against Vic Metro, including three in three minutes in the second quarter, stamped him as a key forward prospect. He leads well, can take a pack mark, and is capable of scooping the ball off the deck. Intensity has been a question, but maybe not now that’s he growing more confident. Paul Daffey

The key forward impressed for Vic Country in the Under 18 championships and has taken his game to a new level in the TAC Cup. He is a mobile forward with a good leap and clean pair of hands. He presents well to the ball carrier and his set shot kicking is technically sound. Cook will need to have a big finals series for his team to progress. TAC Cup website

My thoughts exactly.

+1

Looks like he is 194cm and 82kg - not bad size for what we want.

Lucas Cook 2010 AFL Draft Prospect

Not bad but not great either. Plus questions on work ethic are never good.

Cook looks too much like a mobile forward rather than the 'power forward' (sorry to those who hate the term, too bad!) Dean Bailey's been talking about us wanting.

He wouldn't give us anything different from what we've already got in Watts, Jurrah, Dunn, and Bate.

I've heard good things about Luke Mitchell from Calder Cannons who is 196 cms 96kgs, who may be available at our second or third pick. He's missed a lot of football this year through injury which is why he hasn't been on the radar..

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
